I've seen several messages about restarting the local, but haven't really seen anyone take it on. How many of us from the old Local 29 would like to get things going here again? Please respond to the board with what would be a good time to meet for chat so that we can all get together and talk about what we would like to do and where we go now.

There is a Yahoo Group established at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/heartlandwenchesofiwg/
I'm doing my darndest to get things going again - but y'all are like herding cats. I want to be inclusive of the gals who post online here, as well as the gals who are members who don't post - and there are quite a few of 'em.
I'd love to hold a meeting of as many IWG members in the Local 29 area as possible during the run of KCRF - as it is the faire we're chartered out of. I'm thinking perhaps 5th weekend - Sept. 27 & 28 (Highland Games) for a mini-invasion. We could have a get-together either Friday or Saturday evening, and I'd be happy to take names of volunteers to put together some group activities AT faire - like attending shows together, etc. I cannot volunteer myself to do faire-hour activities because of my job with the festival, but I'm more than willing to coordinate things.
What I'm looking to do (see previous posts) is to build a contact list of as many local IWG members as possible and then hold elections. All offices are open and between the Yahoo site and the wench.org site - we can post the platforms of interested candidates and then hold elections. I'm working with several vendors at KC to find a new home for our hostel, but I'm also waiting to hear where the festival is going to be in 2004. We're supposed to be notified by WyCo during this year's run ... so stay tuned. There's also an empty booth next to the Mermaid Stage, so I'm going to check with Carla, Carrie and Jim about the possibilities of using that booth for this year.
So - if you'd all do me a HUGE favor so I can facilitate this process ... register as a member on the Yahoo group. There's a place for contact information - I'd love e-mail addresses, snail mail addresses and phone numbers. You can also e-mail me at velvetduv at yahoo dot com. I'd also like to know what offices you'd be interested in running for and what kind of things you'd like to do within the local (besides faire). You might also let me know when you'll be at KC and if the fifth weekend might be good for a mini-invasion on your schedule.
Also - if you know other members - get them to forward their information to me as well. Once I have a current list, I'll send out correspondence regarding reformation of the local, elections, etc. If there are individuals interested in helping with the administrative/organizational tasks involved in regrouping - please let me know!!!
There's nothing I'd like more than to get the local rolling again - bigger, better, faster, more than ever! Help me do that ...
Thanks!

Actually, I am a member of the Yahoo group also. However, neither this board nor the Yahoo group are getting much (if any) traffic from the local wenches. I figured this would be a better place to catch everyone, including those that have joined recently and wouldn't know about the Yahoo group.

Baroness, I think I sent you all my contact info already--let me know if I didn't!
Besides, you know where to find me <G>
Any weekend would be fine for me--my hours at faire are about the same as yours!

Go ahead and post contact information on the Yahoo site - it puts it into a database that can be exported and e-mailed from. I'm attempting to be inclusive, methodical and organized so if I have a catch-all place for information, it'll go a long way towards my goal.
Thanks!!!!

I just might be in port on the 28th at KCRF! The rogue (*siiiiiiighs happily*) has an interview in KC so we're vacationing there that weekend and might have some time on Sunday to stop by the faire. *hope hope hope*
Any more thoughts on a mini-invasion over Highland Games weekend?

One thing we might want to discuss is having "the local" break off into different sub-groups because there are actually (now, unlike 4-5 years ago when we started this) many Iowa and Nebraska and Kansas wenches (independantly).
Something we'll have to throw around in the off season, I suppose?

Don't forget us few Okie wenches! There was some talk of branching off at OkRF this year, but I don't think anything has become of that as of yet. I do know that there are several Oklahoma wenches that frequent/work at our smallish fair (going to 4 weekends next year!)
 Maybe I'll do some checking and kick...er...get some feedback from the few I can get hold of.

No forgetting the OK wenches - who are actually far more than just OK
