I'm vending at the new Shakespearean fest in Somers, CT. I hope to be at Green Mountain for one weekend and I will definitely be at FOTL. Then Salem Pirate Festival and CTRF.
As a paytron.... I am hoping to attend SCRF and Tux. Maybe even King Richard. All depends on my time.... and money.

I'm here! May make it to Somers this weekend, not sure yet. Recovery from surgery not going as smoothly as I had hoped. No bodices for me for a while! Glad I have ONE dress I can wear!
Hoping to make it to SCRF for one weekend, definately going to Tux opening weekend, *might* try Northern Catskill Mountain, will be at FOTL, Salem Pirate Faire, of course CTRF for the entire run, and New Hampshire. I may go to North Carolina again this year, but not sure yet.
Good to see you back on the boards Lori!

Crimson and I are hoping to make it at least Sunday of Somers Shakespearean Fest. He has the day off (not requested), but it all depends on if we have the money to go.
Other than that we are (supposedly) definite for opening weekend of Sterling, First weekend of Green MT, 2nd weekend of PARF, Laborday weekend of Tux, and the whole run of CTRF minus Columbus day (he forgot to ask for it off ). We have to skip SCRF, Salem Pirate Faire, NHRF and KRF because of his job. Missing the Pirate faire sucks the most because it is seriously across the water from my house.
I say supposedly for the others because those are what he has asked for, and been approved for, off. Unfortunately we do not know if they'll still be valid as he asked for them off while he was AM at the Newburyport store, but as of this Tuesday he is being transferred to the Gloucester store. :irked:
Sounds like I'll be at Sterling for July 14th and 15th, and I know I'll be at KRF for the whole run (not sure what I'll be playing, but I'll let y'all know so you can come find me!! hehe). Hoping to make it to a few others, but not sure yet, since I have yet to save up enough money for the books I'll need in the fall.
:-D I like the smileys too!

I'm here too!
We will be at the Shaker Valley Ren Faire on the 30th of this month. I may be helping someone out at SCRF for the first two weekends, then we are at both weekends of Green Mountain Renaissance Festival, Festival of the Lion, then Rockland Pirate Days in Maine on labor day weekend, Salem Pirate faire, CTRF and New Hampshire Ren Faire. of course.. things are a little different when you are going as a vendor but we will be there none the less. I would really like to be able to get to Sterling and Tux but that is all going to depend on what funds allow.

Duh, I never said where we'd be.
Scott & I opening weekend of SCRF and Green Mountain.
The four of us will be at opening weekend of Tux.
Keith, Scott & I at FotL
Some semblance of the four of us will be at Salem Pirate Faire.
As much of CTRF as we can make it too.
I am doubting we will go to King Richard's. Last year was the clincher for that decision.
Perhaps NHRF.

Oh no, what did my home faire do now?
Nothing specific. It wasn't a slam on KRF. KRF was the first Faire the hubby & I went to, so in some respect, we owe it our thanks. However, it just does not hold the magic for us it once did. Bottom line is just that, the bottom line - between gas, gate and food, it is just too much money for not enough personal enjoyment. Being the most aesthetically beuatiful Faire I have been to just is not a good reason any longer.
There are too many threads on too many boards bashing KRF, that was not my intention here. Just trying to get some chatting going in Local 24.

I personally enjoy the smaller non permanent faires more. Granted they do not have the amazing feel with the trees and the fabulous buildings and what not, but the *over all* feel at the smaller faires is generally more friendly and homey.
KRF is certainly a faire that everyone in the area must see at some point or another. It is in a gorgeous setting, the actors are wonderful, the shows are ample and the jousting was pretty damned good as well.
Unfortunately I just don't think it's one I have to go back to frequently. It's hard to have a good time when everything costs so much, especially when feeding a family of 5. (The *food court* and it's employees were my least favorite part of the faire.)

I feel the same way. It was my first faire as well, back in the 80's. But I only go back every 5 years or so now. The cost doesn't justify the trip. And the fact that it falls at the end of the season, when the faire budget has been drained, doesn't help either! I have many good memories of KRF, but don't make it an annual trip anymore.
As Kalea has said, there are a lot of smaller faires to visit, that are a lot of fun, and offer a really good value. I am finding that I enjoy those as much if not more than the bigger faires because of the interaction with the cast, and the unique vendors that they have. I guess when you've been going to faires for 20 years, you need to broaden your horizons a little... ;-)

I've only been to KRF twice in my 6 years of faire (parents claim they took me and my brother when we were little, like I'm gonna remember that).
First time was not fun, but that was because the person I went with is a jerk. We had little with us for left over money and he wanted to leave early because there was 2 hours left of the day and he was going to be hungry again (mind you we had already eaten a few hours before).
Second time was with my rogue. We had fun for the most part, but I have to agree with everyone else, it's expensive. I mean the only reason we will go for more than one day is if my friend can get us comps for both days. Other than that, if we can't go, we don't sweat it much. Although this year we have to skip it because of his job.

I'll be working SCRF.
After that will be Tux every other weekend.
I'll be at CTRF at least once.
I would like to get in at least one more... to be determined by time off
and money- KRF, MDRF or PARF

I do plan to be at Tux Labor day weekend.
As long as my work schedule doesn't change. I'm required to work every other weekend. I will have to work on that Monday though but I'll have the rest of the weekend.
Sorry you won't be able to make it to SCRF.
I hope to see you at Tux.
