I was brousing through the craft mall near me yesterday when I found a booth with some books. There I found a book dated 1841. For $5. The pages have age spots, true, but you can read every word and there are no pages missing or even falling out. I don't know how this book is in such good condition. It was miraculous. It's called "The Ladies Pearl and Literary Gleaner." It is a colection of Ladies Newsletters for the entire year of 1841. It has has stories and poems and all sorts of things. For $5!!!! I'm excited. I'm almost afraid to read it because how amazingly well kept it is!

oh no...don't be afraid. Those old books are dying to be read again. Just treat her gently, and it should be fine for a few more years still to come...I have a book that predates the copyright laws (there's NO date inside) and it was bought for three dollars at a used book store. I've got a bunch of others as well, all predating the 1900's, all bought at ridiculous prices, and all now cherished and valued. The one I mentioned above, Rip Van Winkle/legend of Sleepy HOllow, also came with newspaper clippings inside (one of the famous poem regarding children being seen and not heard) and an inscription. VERY cool.
