Wow, so, heres another reason for people to draw away from the fat people and find thin friends...

I watched a video on Yahoo today that states scientific research that friends and families of obese people are much more likely to get fat themselves. Thats....just depressing.

They even said the closer you are to someone, the more likely you are to gain wieght with them. But never fear, it works both ways, so get yourself some thin friends (if you can find any willing to stay friends with someone who might make them get fat) and you can lose wieght.

Does anyone else find this possibly rediculous and damaging?

I can see how someone who would not normally eat at a certain time may go ahead and eat if the other wants to and maybe slightly more often but not enough to come to conclusions that it's contageous or anything. That just sounds rediculous if you have the least bit of self control, and believe it or not, even us larger people have self control! If I didn't have will-power I'd be a heck of a lot bigger.

It's not like obesity is a disease. I can see why it would be easier to gain weight around someone who eats a lot, but just because you eat a lot doesn't make you obese.. and obese people don't neccisarilly eat a lot.. ugh.

It's not like obesity is a disease.

Don’t let the AMA and politicians hear you say that. Of course obesity is a disease. It has to be in order to be able to file an insurance claim and have a prescription written to treat this disease. And there need to be new federal laws governing the application of new drugs and laws to ensure that everyone gets their faire share of treatment. It's already being picked up as part of the new socialized global health care that we're going to be subject to. Except for the Pres, VP, Senators, and Reps. They're excluded from having to particiapte in the new health care system once it gets put into place. They're special.

Well, my husband gained more weight with both of my pregnancies than I did. My midwife said it was "sympathy weight". I think it was from stress and finishing stuff I couldn't because I was either sick or disinterested in food most of the time. It worked out for me because since I had no cravings at all I only ate healthy. I swear if I could stay pregnant I would have the healthiest eating habits ever, lol.
