Listen to then former Secretary of Defense Cheney explaining why we didn't invade Iraq after we drove them from Kuwait in the First Gulf War: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6BEsZMvrq-I
All this time I thought Cheney was an asshole. Turns out he's actually a prophetic asshole.

So.... okay....
Now, 10+ years later, all that stuff that they didn't want to jeopardize before is alright? The casualties that they were preventing are now justified somehow? Do I have that right?

No Luv, because you're only looking at a snippet of what was going on post Gulf War 1. Taking one 2 minute segment done thirteen years ago and applying it to current events is preposterous. And there were other reasons why the coalition didn’t pursue the Iraqi troop and take out saddam.
I can do the same type of thing with any of the current Dem's wanting to become the Pres. There's videos of them demanding we do an immediate withdrawal from a year ago and now I can pull up videos saying that they have to leave troops there. Political and military situations change, and what was applicable 6 months or sixteen years ago doesn’t necessarily prove true today.

That's certainly one concern, but it's a little more complicated than that.
It's not about playing "flip-flop gotcha" and showing a politician making conflicting statements; it's about the fact that pretty much everything that Cheney94 said would happen, has happened.
One of the major criticisms of the war was that the planners seemed to display an utter lack of awareness of the socio-political situation in that region. But this interview from 1994 shows us that the planners of this war had to have known that all this would likely happen, and yet not only did they ignore those facts as they moved forward, they also dismissed the critics who suggested the very same complications could happen, and instead made warm fuzzy statements like "we will be greeted as liberators" and suggestions that the war and subsequent reconstruction would be a breeze.
It doesn't even matter whether or not you agree with the choice to go to war; the whole point behind showing that interview is to provide yet more proof of the lies and deceit that this Administration perpetrated upon the American People in order to sell them this war.
