*cracks up* Between your new icon surlz, and the comment on the yogurt and fruit, I just about lost it. When it tells you why the yogurt is bad, it says, "You wouldn't start your morning with a can of coke, would you?" *raises hand* Guilty as charged. I hate coffee.

Guilt here as well, but it's Dr Pepper for me (well, use to be before the, cough, gestational diabetes). Now its a couple cups of coffee, splenda, and creamer.
Interesting article though. I tell you, I'm learning a LOT about substitutions lately.

Wait-- whoever thought of pasta salad as a health food in the first place?!
Anyway, I'm SO gonna revel in my brekkie sammiches now....

What is cracking me up lately is the trend to make un-healthy foods appear good for you - you know, like the "ZERO GRAMS OF TRANS FAT!!!" plastered over everything.
I mean it's good that McDonalds and other fast food places are offering fruit options for their kids meals, but really - does that make the meal 'good' for you in any way? Oy.
Shoot - we even have Diet Coke with vitimins and minerals added now. See! It's healthy!!

Of course foods loaded with white flour, white sugar and fats are not healthy. Even 'healthy' recipes made to such large sizes that it amounts to a staggering calorie intake is not healthy.
Moderation in all things. Whole foods and unprocessed foods are the way to go.
And just who the frell puts ice cream in a fruit smoothie and calls it Healthy?!?!

I didn't think granola bars were necessarily supposed to be healthy.
I thought they were meant to be more of a "power bar" type thing for hikers and such who need a shot of sugar and protein.

Now, now, m'dear. I've managed to cut my weight from about 260lbs (with a 42" waist) down to 235ish (with a smidge over a 36" waist), due in some part to diet pop (namely Diet Dew and Coke Zero). There has to be some good about diet pop.

Hikers and long range cyclists.
I guess "healthy" is a relative term in this case, though. I mean... you're gonna ingest less bad crap if you scarf 4 granola bars at one shot than if you scarf 4 Milky Ways at one shot. Either way, it's still not terribly healthy.

The same people that put "contains REAL fruit" on Fruit Roll-Ups... *rotfl*
Or my favorite, on Twizzlers, "as always, a FAT FREE food" (never mind the boatload of sugar and artificial EVERYTHING, but they are tasty)!

When I was stationed in Orlando back in the mid '90's, there was an AMC movie theater that sold 2" THICK foot long Twizzlers. I used to buy 10 or so of them before a movie. Those and a lrge popcorn bucket filled with Cherry Coke. Is it no wonder I have a gut?!?

OOOO, Cherry Coke, another one of my favorites! I only have it at the movies, though, along with the Twizzlers and the popcorn. Since I only go to the movies a few times a year, it doesn't really impact my waistline...lol.

Well... when I was stationed in Orlando, I was a single sailor. I was essentially being paid by the military to go to college. I went to the movies a lot... the theater was right outside the base and i had no car. It was the best place to go do something. lol

I understand, when I lived in an attic apartment with no A/C, I used to spend a lot of time at the movies, the mall, and at the local bar! FREE A/C!
