Lindsay Lohan's new job to be in morgue (http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/01/18/people.lohan.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview)

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Lindsay Lohan is about to see dead people.

The 21-year-old actress will soon be working at a morgue as part of her punishment for misdemeanor drunken driving, her attorney, Blair Berk, told a judge Thursday.

She has also spent two months in rehabilitation and has done some community service, Berk said at a hearing on her progress toward fulfilling the terms of her plea bargain.

Her two four-hour days at the morgue are part of a court-ordered program to show drivers the real-life consequences of drinking and driving. She must also spend two days working in a hospital emergency room.

Lohan was arrested twice last year on DUI charges and pleaded guilty in August to misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine charges. She has already served 84 minutes in jail as part of the plea deal.<---THIS is a frellin' joke!
Lohan was not required to appear at Thursday's hearing.

OK, the morgue is a great idea. A way to see what you could/did cause.
These 84 minutes are just a joke and an insult to the "real people" of the world.
We all know, if it were you or I, we'd be in jail for at least a month or more...MINIMUM.

It's that california jail. That one where Nicole Ritchie spent like 12 minutes or something. They get credit for a percentage of time because the jail is to full.

But I gotta say, all in all, this chick is messed up, but she seems to be taking the community service thing and the rest of her sentence pretty seriously now. Hopefully she'll regain control of her life.

You can't even get a decent nap in 84 minutes...

Isn't that what Paris did too? I don't see her changing her life like she swore she would either.

84 minutes is a joke, but I'll say this: Pick ANY one of these out of control celebrities. They didn't get that way by themselves. I know they're grown-ups that can make their own choices, but the people in their lives sat back and watched it happen.

I can't think of one of my friends that would let me get THAT out of control without kicking my ass. And I shudder to imagine the fresh hell my Mom would have in store for me if I pulled any of that crap. Even at age 36!

It was different with Paris. And not that I'm defending her or anything, but yea, there was all this bad stuff she did, and she did the jail thing. Since then, sure, we haven't seen her doing anything out of the ordinary good, but we haven't seen anything bad either.

I have to look at it from a taxpayer/ liability point of view.
The jail has to have an area for the celebrities where they are safe from others and themselves and paparatzzi and make sure staff are not taking photos to sell to the Inquier.
I am not excusing the behavior.
Nor am I saying it is a fair punishment.

Just that we don't have an environment where they will physically be assured of safety and privacy without a strain on the taxpayers.

Yes, a new solution needs to come to light. But, I am not sure what that solution is. I do like that she will have to work in the morgue and ER to see first hand what the consequences of her actions could be. If only we could put her in a new environment with people that actually gave a crap about her.
