View Full Version : Corsairs abandon ship?
Any one know anything about this? I didn't see any confirmation on the website...
It is with a mixture of joy and sadness that The Corsairs make the following announcement.
We feel joy that two of our members and comrades have moved on to better things than us, and we feel sadness that, if we are to carry on, we will have to do so without them.
Gregg, a.k.a. Joshua Jenkins, The Shantyman, has retired from the group to pursue his solo career. He can be seen at festivals all across the country, and we wish him nothing but the best.
Robbie, a.k.a. Robert "Boats" Blackmoor, has taken an indefinite sabbatical from the group to further his education. We know he will be a fine student, and we look forward to his eventual return.
Please check The Corsairs website from time-to-time for updates and additional information as it becomes available.

Like I said, unverified. I'm on the list too but got nothing.
I found this on a Yahoo Group for the AFR invasion of TRF
Have to wait and see...

I have heard about the Shantyman. I believe it is confirmed on the website, and he was down at TRF and it says formerly of the Corsairs in the program. I haven't heard of the other though.
I checked the website and he is listed at the bottom as a "Former Member"... *sigh*
Nothing about Boats though...
Does this mean they are through?

Shantyman has been solo for several months now..since before March
OK, here is wha I know.
The Shantyman has been performing Solo at Scarby for 2 years now. I know the group has been having personality conflict problems as they grow as people. I do know that Robbie is trying to improve his life with education and needs to focus. I know they have considered replacing the members or changing the make up of the group. I think it is still up on the air. It is the Corsairs! Give them a couple of nights with a lot of Scotch and Guineess and they will come up with a decision.

OK - even though I'm from Jolly Rogers country - I do like the Corsairs very much - especially Scott (Capt. Alexander Morgan) ... yeah dammit, I know the lil' bugger's gay. He and I hit it off from the first moment I met him at Scarby as a visiting performer from KCRF and I go find him first off every time I visit. He's always been the most friendly of all of those scallywags to me - plus he's a great shopper!!!
I can't say I'll miss the Shantyman - even though he has talent, as far as my experience with him is concerned, he's got more ego THAN talent, and I'm just not crazy about arrogant ren performers. Nonetheless, I wish him well in his solo career - even though I think it's the rich hamonies of a group that really give a sea shanty it's character!
OK - nuff said. Shutting up now and returning you to your regular cruise.

Hey everyone,
I've been out of the loop for a while and have missed just about every gathering of late, but I'm trying to get back in the swing of things.
As those of you who know me can confirm, I'm pretty close friends with a couple of the guys (and my rogue had even housed one of them for a while) so I'll give you the brief update that I'm permitted to.
Yes, The Shantyman has gone solo - and all wish him well, though he will be missed.
Yes, Boats (Robbie) has departed as well to pursue his academic and personal life.
Yes, the Corsairs live on, but for now as a group of 4 instead of six.
Things will be different, but interesting I'm sure and we will still need to come up with another method of breaking the Corsairs next Scarborough.
Now - off to post about the upcoming TRF trip!
Mirabel - with a sig old and entirely too long.
