I'm interested in attending the King Richard's faire next year or maybe this year. It's near Boston, right? I can fly for free so would I fly into the Boston area? What town is it closest to and what's the best hotel area to stay in?

On an inside level, what is the faire like? I mean, I looked at the website but I kind of want the "inside" take on the faire. Good shopping? I don't see a feast or tea listed on the website, is there one? Is this a two or one day faire? Who does the royal court consist of, historical figures I mean.

I hope I posted this in the right forum, if I didn't, please let me know.

KRF was my first faire -- in fact, the hubby and I have attended every year since they opened (this year will be their 27th season). The location is in Carver, which is next to Plymouth, MA. If you do come for the faire, you should plan an extra day to check out Plymouth and the "Plimouth Plantation" - a historical reenactment of daily life in Plymouth in the early 1600's. It's fantastic if you're a history buff.

The faire is a very picturesque hard site, located in the middle of a pine forest, and the shopping is excellent. There is no "historical" cast, although they do play around with parodies of historical figures. Be prepared - the plots are usually very tongue-in-cheek, and they are given to elaborate musical numbers. They really don't have any "national" acts, although The Lost Boys played there last season, and I believe they will be back for the next one.

Another thing to prepare for is the cost - at $27 a person, it's the priciest faire on the East Coast. However, it's definitely worth checking out!!!!

I did think the admission was one of the highest I've researched. It won't be a trip this year but I wanted to know if I should keep it on the list.

This year is TRF, Scarby, and Bristol. I got lucky with my man working for an airline now. I ask about what airport but then it all depends on what airport Northwest flies into. I like the information as a starting point. Thanks.

We are interested in attending alot of faires. I think we will hit all of our picks in the next few years and then start over. I have a friend who lives near Scarby so that gives me a place to stay which is nice. I've always wanted to do the three I mentioned since I started doing faire.

Logan Airport in Boston, I think, would be your location -- but if you can connect to TF Green in Providence under the terms of the employee program, go for it. Logan can be a nightmare, even for those of us who are "locals." :unamused:

I'd second this. Providence is just as close as Boston to KRF and a LOT easier to get to/from.

Yup, PVD is the way to go...easy in and out and the drive routes are much less of a pain.
