Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! I know I had a few chocolate mishaps, but we are all human, and I was planning on it anyway. Today is upper body day for me, so I'll be off to the gym after work for lots and lots of lifting!

How has everyone else been doing?

Not doing so bad here. The weight I expected to put back on due to being sick seems to be staying off. I’m going to blame it on the little guy for eating a lot of mommy food, because I can’t explain it any other way. So I’ve got 5/6 pounds to lose and I should hopefully be at the size I want. Its sort of weird, I work out like crazy and stay with in a pound or two of my weight for a month. Then I get sick and lose like 4 in one week and haven’t gained any of it back. I’d much prefer just losing it through the exercise, being sick sucks.

I’m still having problems with toning my tush. Dame thing wants to be jiggly. Not good for bikini weather, but that’s still a couple months away.

Well, when you get sick you get dehydrated, so the weight loss is likely water. Drinking lots of water all the time will help you get rid of fat more effectively! As for the bum, remember that you can't target tone.. unfortunately, you have to lose fat all over. (lame, I know.) So the best thing for getting rid of unwanted jigglyness is weight lifting followed by cardio, first to burn glucose, then to burn fat.

Now that you work at a gym you have access to all sorts of loooovely machines! You're gonna have a blast tonin' them glutes!

I STILL havent lost weight. WTF? I am exercising at least 3 times a week, both cardio and strength. I have given my diet a complete overhaul. Instead of things like snack mixes that I was eating when I got hungry between meals, I am eating Jello w/ fruit cups. A good 90 cal difference there! At dinner, I am using a lunch plate instead of a dinner size plate to make sure I eat less and I don't go back for seconds. My dessert is a pina colada popsicle. It has chunks of pineapple and coconut in it. I looked and it isn't high in sugar, fat, or cal.
So why am I not losing weight??????
It is making me feel very frustrated and disappointed in myself. I see my friends who look great and think about how terrible I look.

Your body may be in a bit of shock with all of the changes and gone into starvation mode. So long as your getting more than 12,000 calories stick to it. Eventually it should come out of it and realize that your not starving, merely only giving it what it needs. You could also be losing inches, and not weight because of your weight training. Remember muscle is denser than fat so if your burning off the fat and replacing it with muscle your could drop sizes and the scale may never move, or you could actually gain weight from the new muscle. My advice, take a tape measure and measure yourself. Go back about every 2 weeks and re-measure, you should start to see the numbers go down. Besides that, just keep at it girl, you can do it!

Try getting rid of any excess carbs. Low calorie diets have NEVER worked for me. The only thing that ever helped me lose weight was ditching the bad carbs. Unfortunately, that means you might have to give up the fruit cups and popcicles.. but I can pretty much guarentee that if you stop taking in sugar, you'll see results on the scale.

First time I gave up sugar, I lost about 10 lbs in one week of retained water alone.

Well... while underway I was eating as decently as I could and working out quite a bit (about 45 minutes per day every day). I'm trying to get into shape to run a triathlon in mid-May, so I want to trim a little weight but I need to stay above 200lbs so I can compete in a 200lb+ category. I figure it'll give me a better chance of placing... there can't be that many guys over 200lbs running triathlons! I think.

Anyway... I had a red mark on my uniform belt which indicated where I had to postion the clasp for the belt to fit comfortably. That red mark is about 2" from the end of the belt which is trimmed down to about 41". Well... I just added a white mark. The white mark is AT LEAST 6" from the end of the belt. Moreover, the size 34 cargo shorts that I do most of my working out in are baggy on me now. Who's got a whoot for Sheumais?!? Don't ask me my weight, though. I haven't been on a scale in over a month, when I weighed in at 225lbs.

Ok, I totally forgot to post Friday. I weighed in Thursday night and lost another 2#! That's a total of 31.4 now.
