Everyone ok? Yesterday we had some wicked weather. Here in the mountains of PA we had some major wind issues. I still have no electricity or water at my home. I was driving through said storm yesterday and had I not slammed it into reverse I would have been on the receving end of a toppling tree....We had tree limbs the size of my waist snapped of like toothpicks and just missed the house. Found out on the news this morning that we actually had several tornado touch-downs. Anyone else get some crazy weather?

*Serves me right. I was bored at work yesterday and emailed a friend that what we needed was a natural disaster...me and my big mouth*

Us folks down here on the shore got a beautiful light show and some heavy winds and rain for all of 20 minutes....then a second one about 20 minutes after that. They were just forming, dumping, and then moving REALLY fast. Did lose power for about 2 hours. It's easy to tell when we lose power in the middle of the night - Mike's CPAP machine stops and he can't breathe.....(he's fine actually - it's just that initial - hey where did my air go - it's not being pushed down my throat thing...of course I heard it turn off anyway....it's kind of amusing actually)

I sat through the worst of it at a Denny's with the Golden Retriever-- highly amusing as he was making an anatomically correct chain mail flogger handle, and I was reaching across the table...er, holding his shaft, so to speak, while he worked on making it larger.

Then, of course, I realised once I got home and it started to pour AGAIN that I'd left my umbrella in the booth. Sigh. Back I went.

We lost power with the storms Saturday night, (a houseful of people of course!) Thank goodness it came back on several hours later, I had visions of a sleepless night with Freebird not having his CPAP.)

Last Wednesday we drove home from work looking our for the area tornadoes, (yeah, like we would have been able to see them it was raining so hard!)

We had LOTS of thunder last night but the storms were hitting just to the south of us (literally) so we didn't get the brunt of it.

And I bet it's white noise for you now and if it's not there it's hard for you to sleep.....

We lost a small tree out here, but other than that, just some flikering of the lights. I was on the phone with Nikki as it was moving in and I was pretty sure that Death was coming for us in those clouds. It moved thru pretty fast, and then just some distant lightning and rumbles for the rest of the night with rain on and off. I should have gotten pictures of the clouds. I've had a wall cloud form right over my head when I was in Iowa, so I don't usually get all excited, but damn those were pretty intense last night!!

They tracked pretty much to the east of you - NYC got it good. Newark International had a 4 1/2 hour delay....(of course, is that anything new anymore :unamused:)

I vaguely remember strong winds, rain and the house rattling.

I just woke up from a nap, again.

Was fun to watch. Angel and I stood out on the patio and got rained on some and enjoyed the light show. About 30 minutes after that we got a boom of thunder so close you could feel it. It set off car alarms in the complex. Our power flickered off for a moment after that but was back on in under a minute.

Was a lovely way for the heatwave to break. haha

I'm about 15-20 mins west of NYC, and we got hit pretty darn hard. At one point, the lights went out, I already had a couple of candles burning (we usually lose power in a good thunderstorm), so that was good, but when the lights went out is when the freakin' hail started. I looked outside at it (not a normal occurrance here) and we were having nickel to quarter sized hail. After I said, "cool! Hail!" I noticed a lot of debris. This is when I got scared. I dragged a screaming cat out from under my bed and brought her and the bird into the basement, just in case... Yea, I'm paranoid of tornadoes and the big, sick, leaning oak tree in the front yard (scheduled to be removed in 2 weeks).

Anyways, after all was said and done, we had some major wind, about 20 trees down town-wide and no power until this morning. The worst of it was trying to get to work this morning. I had to help the landlord with the tree that fell across the driveway, nobody could get out. We had to borrow the neighbor's chainsaw (FUN!) and use it and an axe to get the tree into managable chunks which he dragged with his truck to the other side of the street.

So, we lost one ugly chestnut tree, a whole mess of roof shingles, the topper for our wood burning stove chimney 2 patio chairs (in the neighbor's pool) and got a dent in my grill from it blowing over. All in all, I say we fared pretty well. lol

Definately a storm to remember.

For some reason in my neighborhood when the lights go out everone feels the need to go outside and set off low-level fireworks, so that's the light-show we were treated to over the weekend.

(And yeah, the CPAP is definitely white-noise now!)

Here in southern CT we lost an Oak tree, but kept power. My girls, being the wackos that they are, went dancing in the rain, while my son Ben was out all night with the Fire Dept with down power lines, felled trees and car accidents. He got home this morning about 5, good thing he doesn't have to be at wrk until 3 today.

It did cool things down quite a bit and for that I'm glad. Haven't gotten the whole scoop on what blew through here though. It was almost like a mini tornado or hurricane. We live on Long Island Sound and water spouts (tornadoes on the water) are quite common and sometimes hit land.

We got pummelled. I didn't go outside to look, but it sounded like baseballs being thrown at the house.

Yikes! That sounds really frightening. Did anyone get windows broken?

Just one, and not in my apartment. The landlord lives upstairs, and his bathroom window got broken. I just got back from the house at lunch and he was boarding it up.

Parts of CT got hit pretty hard. We had no power for about 10 hours and lots of debris everywhere. Some lower counties had no school today because of no power. We even had a tornado watch in my area.

I was walking across the street from my neighbors' (dog sitting) and it was pitch black because of no power. Then the whole area lit up really bright just like daylight. At first I thought great they got the power on; then I realized that it was lightening hitting close by. Very big kaboom and I'm in the middle of the street surrounded by tall trees. I hussled my butt back to my house.

Well I was gonna say it must have gone to the south of me, but whereas I know Lady Hefron lives North of me.....

I know we had a bit of wind the other night, I remember going by the living room and noticing the tree outside the window moving a bit, but it didn't seem like all that strong of a wind. I know when I had to drive Crimson to the emergency room around 3am yesterday I did see 1 little branch down at the intersection at the end of my street, and it was kind of spitting rain, but that's about it.

err, p.s. the rogue is fine, wound up having his gall bladder out last night.

Jayde...give Crimson my best. I had mine out in '99 after wicked stones, serious bad pain.
