Stupid woman. Too bad her son had to pay the price.

But it's not her fault; she has a drinking problem. </sarcasm>

Chlorox, indeed.

Kudos to the husband. I can't begin to imagine what he's going through.

It's sad that the innocents always have to pay. If the drunks would die instead the world would be a better place IMHO..

Then it would be a self correcting problem.

She did a great job of showing how remorseful she was. :x

Poor child, and poor father. At least he notified the police and she can serve her time.

That's true, unfortunately. Ask the family of any alcoholic.

But do I have any sympathy? No. AA, clinics, new drugs-- there are options to take to treat your disease. Being an alcoholic? I'm sorry-- that's rough. Being an alcoholic, knowing it, doing nothing, and killing someone? Fuck you, you lowlife worthless fucking piece of shit.

Let me start by saying how fucking stupid I think this woman is. Driving drunk is stpid enough for obvious reasons, but driving drunk with a child in the car? No way! That's just... well, look at that, I have no words.

This is one of those things that makes me sad. Why was this woman given the ability to reproduce when others that would make way better mothers not.

Now, this is just an innocent question, why would she be charged with escape? Did she miss her 24 hour deadline to get back to jail? Seems that if I were in jail, and given 24 hours off, even for a funeral, I might have gone out and done stuff like, get my hair done or get a massage or gone out for a nice dinner or something. I'd be pissed if someone turned me in before I needed to be. (not that I'm not glad that the dad did this, I don't think she had the right to even be allowed to attend services.)

I believe she did fail to show up or report in as required....and I'm sure her release had all kinds of contingencies on it including not repeating the same thing you are in jail for....:unamused:

Well, if she failed to report, then yea, escape it is. And I'm sure that there were contingencies, but you get fined and additional time for that, sort of like violating parole or probation or something I would think, not escape, that's a HUGE penalty. Not that she doesn't deserve to spend the rest of her life behind cold iron bars.

The charge of esacpe isn't because she was late coming back to jail, it stems from the fact that the woman was not where she was supposed to be as a condition of her temporary release.

When a prisoner is released for a specific purpose, such as this funeral, they don't have the right to go anywhere else but to that specific purpose. So her going to the bar, or anywhere else but to the funeral parlor and the gravesite would have violated the terms of her temporary relase order, and placed her not only in contempt of court, but she also woul be technically "escaping."

So regardless of whether it was before time for her to report back to the jail or not, the charge of esacpe will stand. Hope this helps.
