I'm in the process of compiling and updating a roster of all wenches in the local 29 viewing area :D - Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Southern Iowa, Northern Oklahoma and Northern Arkansas. If you didn't get an e-mail from me, please contact me at velvetduv@yahoo.com or wbriggs@nkhw.com - or call me at 816.455.6757. In addition to adding local 29's information to a national database, we're looking towards reorganizing and reviving the local chapter and adding some splinter groups so each faire in the area has guild representation and can continue to grow and develop.
Also - if you're in the KC area (or want to travel here), and are interested in a social get-together sometime around the beginning of 2004 - let me know!
Thanks - happy holiday!

I don't want to be territorial with my good friends in Northern Texas - especially if Wench Kae is elected local madame. In my opinion - based on what we were thinking when we started Local 29 - Oklahoma is somewhat of a toss-up state ... which means at this point you're pretty much free to choose which local - if any - you want to officially belong to. Folks in the Northern part of the state and frequent Tulsa, Muskogee, and KCRF more often than Scarby and other faires may want to be part of local 29 ... but others living in the southern part of the state who attend Scarby more often than KCRF may choose Local 13.
I know Chattia Campbell has been considering an Oklahoma local separate from either 13 or 29 - and we've talked about splintering local 29 so there's an official presence at all the faires in the region. It's really up to the gals at any given faire - and Lars, of course - as to whether to charter a local. If there's enough interest by wenches in Oklahoma to create their own chapter - I'd say go for it.
In the meanwhile, Oklahoma wenches are welcome to be part of either, both or neither local 13 and local 29. Honestly, as we move forward and develop more non-faire, year-round activities and events, the need for more locals or at least splinter/satellite groups will most likely grow. I mean - who wants to drive four hours to see a movie with other wenches when you could see one together in your own home town? Or who wants to participate in a charitable event for an agency in another city and state when there are plenty of worthy organizations right down the street?!
What I'm trying to do is put together as accurate and complete a list of all the IWG members in the local 29 area (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, southern Iowa, northern Oklahoma and northern Arkansas) as possible. Local 29 is chartered at KCRF - but there's no reason satellites or splinters of the local can't exist at Mid-Missouri, Wichita, Wybreg, etc. In the same vein - there's no reason other locals can't be developed and chartered ... for example, in St. Louis, Des Moines, Oklahoma City, Muskogee, etc. Developing a comprehensive list would just make it that much easier.
All that is really required is about 10 interested members to charter a local - but developing and chartering a local is more time and work intensive than establishing a satellite hostel at a number of regional locations under the umbrella of an existing local. And in my discussions with some of the other local madames - the "flavor" of each local and each satellite would be up to those active members. For instance, we might choose to have several different stitch and bitch groups, a group interested in charity work and volunteering, a performer group, a book club, etc. in the Kansas City area of local 29 - but maybe the gals in Wichita want to have a monthly dinner and movie outing, a stitch and bitch group and a mother's support group in their area. Wouldn't that be great?! Local 29 is already having monthly social get-togethers that include spouses, SOs and members of other Lundegaard guilds.
So - that's a looooooooong way of answering your question - but I want everyone to capture the vision of what we can be as members of the IWG. Add your own imagination and abundant creativity - the sky's the limit. And whatever local you may choose to officially join - remember you're always welcome to any IWG activities!

Good day ladies,
I happen to be lurking in the area and could not resist I few words. Like daBaroness, I too am compiling a wench roster for Local 13. In fact I just sent an email to Temeny because she was listed on an old file for my chapter.
We did hold elections recently and now have a new interim Local Madame...Wench Kae and a new interim Madame of Vice  ...Nevada. I am also happy to report that they are now in the process of re-awakening a new life into the Local 13 Chapter.
As to how we began our gatherings...
It started with a little socializing outside of faire...from a thread on the boards. A few of us started getting together and inviting people of like minds and interest to join us. The next thing you know we now have monthly gatherings. This month is the Fabric District Invasion in Dallas. While the ladies are out hunting fabric, our rogues will be learning a new game to introduce at faire called Rat Pucking (for those that ask....http://www.thewildhunt.com/thegreen/ratpuck.shtml) Next month is a Medieval Times Invasion.
If this has inspired you to start a social gathering then I say HUZZAH. Have ablast, life is to short not to make time for fun.
Thank you for listening,
Isa
