I just want to recommend "Markings" by Dag Hammarskjold to everyone.

It is a look inside the thoughts of a great man from a very personal point of view. A peek into his spiritual meditation diary, so to speak.

This book touches me very deeply and I have read it often. The cover and pages are worn and marked and it has seen better days, yet I still rely on its passages as a source of comfort when the world around me seems out of sorts.

Over the years, I have circled many passages that have struck a chord with me. Soon I will probably have to get another copy as I will have circled the whole thing. LOL. Some of my favorites include:

"Never, 'for the sake of peace and quiet', deny your own experience or convictions."

"Life only demands from you the strength you possess. Only one feat is possible--not to have run away."

and

"Praise nauseates you--but woe betide him who does not recognize your worth."

There are so many others...I would just end up typing the entire book right here.

So, if you get the chance, take a look at it. :)
