Created by adult product purveyors Topco, the Sarah Palin blowup doll is known as the "This is NOT Sarah Palin Inflatable Love Doll." Featuring a busty, conservatively dressed Palin lookalike, the box cover promises: "Cross party lines with your own inflatable running mate!" The political love doll's suggested uses include: "Blow her up and show her how you're going to vote," "Let her pound your gavel over and over," and "It's time some male interns caused a scandal in the Capitol."
Disgusting. Really.

Not even with your dick. ;-)

It's still misogynist though, no?

Different kind.

The nutcracker is "Bitch." (Read: You are a strong woman and I wish to demean you by calling you names.)

The blowup doll is "Whore." (Read: You need to be demeaned.)

It just raises the stakes higher.

They both strike me as equally demeaning, but you have the vagina, so I guess I'll just have to take your word for it.

Speaking of vaginas, don't you feel that McCain's apparent opinion that you vote with yours is demeaning as well?

BTW, for what it's worth, I wouldn't fuck Palin either, if for no other reason than the fact that I don't need to be responsible for yet another demon spawn bursting forth from that clown car uterus of hers.

One of the blogs talking about the blow-up doll says, "Don’t forget to fill it with hot air." *rotfl*

Her over-feminization and over-sexualization is to attract men, not women. (pulled from Feministing (http://www.feministing.com/archives/011470.html)) Palin is the type of woman who is acceptable to the Patriarchy.

"However a lot of men, especially older men see her as hot. She's a fantasy come to life. She's the naughty librarian 'MILF' who they'd love to get with. This manifest itself in the form of male talk show hosts giving her a pass. Many actually spend valuable time talking about her looks and small time stuff and not her scary politics. It manifest itself in people actually giving John McCain props for picking such a nice 'looking babe' versus's focusing on his shortcomings. It sort of like him having a trophy wife. Except this one will have serious impact on US policy. It manifest itself in male producers who are behind the scenes spending time editing film and audio tape giving her a favorable look as she is a welcome break from the daily onslaught of old wrinkly white males who they are usually editing."

I won't even go into how offended I am that you actually think I would vote with my Girl, as if she could get up on the counter high enough to pull the lever.

They're both born of male fear and a need to humiliate and strip all power away.

So "fuck you" to both companies.

...but you have the vagina...

Oh and: according to the late poll (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/politics/national/stories/092208dnpolwomen.9ff65e99.html) (from Lifetime: Every Woman Counts (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/new-lifetime-every-woman-counts/story.aspx?guid=%7BF1A49FF0-E882-4EC1-9703-1E88F411C5EE%7D&dist=hppr)) women are split McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden. The findings are intense:

In a Dramatic Reversal Since Late July, McCain/Palin Now Virtually Tied With Obama/Biden on Who Best Understands Women -
-- Governor Sarah Palin Pick: Solidifying Factor for Republican Women, Compelling to 55-64 Year-Olds and Married Moms, but Others Divided --
-- Nearly Three-Quarters of Clinton Supporters Have Gone Home to Obama, but Still 23% Said They'll Vote for McCain --
-- Majority of Women Believe Senator Clinton and Governor Palin Have Been Treated Fairly in the Media Coverage of the Race, but Two-Fifths Say Sexism Persists and Is Worse for Palin --

That's how it's playing out now, but her initial selection was about two things: A) getting the conservative base enthused again since McCain diverges from them on a lot of issues, and 2) a cynical stunt to try and court the Hillary voters disaffected from the primary process based on the bewildering assumption that for them, any woman would do.

Oh, and I'm not the one saying that you would vote with your Girl, I'm saying that McCain's actions indicate that he thinks that you would.

And yes, you should be offended that he thinks so.

Anyone see this?

Just so noone thinks it partisan, apparently there's a 3-way with Condi, Hillary and Palin. Yeesh!

For the record, I think both products are funny, though they certainly are not complimentary. I don't find them misogynist or offensive. But then again, I also like porn.

As for the nutcracker, I would not see it as some great male conspiracy to humiliate women.

It was designed by a 15 year old businessman that runs a mall store. He has no strong politiucal viewpoints and says that 40% of the buyers are Hillary supporters. He also designed the Bill Clinton corkscrew.

It is a small novelty company, not a vast right wing conspiracy.

As for the palin doll, I would rather see it as VP than the real thing.

It is from Topco products, apparently a leader in novelty toys.
If the doll offends you, you may want to contact the WOMAN that is the company spokesperson and marketing director.

http://www.topcosales.us/press.asp?CatID=0&PRID=292

looks like some sort of strange female conspiracy to undermine females. or just a chance to make a buck and nothing else. I doubt if the designer or sales department had a single political thought when they developed it.

Did you look at the "behind the scenes" video linked to on that page?

For some reason, the idea of porn stars rehearsing their lines seems absolutely hysterical to me.

The nutcracker and blow-up dolls, are really no big deal.

Now this, on the other hand, is really misogynist.

I second that.. double Eww
All of it creeps me out more than it drives me to outrage.
But then I have lived in a male dominated environment most of my life and while they all live in fear of the Sheena they still make sexual jokes out of everything.

Quote from the Woman in the group: "I personally am a registered Libertarian, supporting Obama this year. Palin is the last woman I want to hold a political office right now. Her lack of common sense, cruel treatment to animals, and just plain ignorance to what we (Americans, and even women) really care about is absolutely frustrating. The point of wearing the shirt to me is just a bold way of saying that she certainly is not liked or one of "us." To play the gender card is irrelevant, because I am a woman who wears the tshirt anyway."

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk34/feministing/palincword.jpg

So because you are a woman, that makes it okay? Nope, not ever in my book. It's still hateful and classless. There are more civil ways to make this point.

Where can I get the shirt? :-) I'll wear it to go vote.

I think that they made it themselves. I think that they make their point that they don't like Palin, however I would NEVER wear a shirt that has that on it. Personally I think that one word is rather crass, unsavory, and just downright rude. I've been called a (C-U-Next-Tuesday) 2-3 times and holding back the retort damn near cost me my tongue. Mainly I've been called that on the phone when I call people regarding credit card debt owed and trying to collect.

I can think of better ways of expressing my dislike for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential canidates. One way would be to go out and vote.

I think that the blow-up doll and the nut-cracker are kinda funny. The Obama Dildo is just plain disturbing. Would I buy either one? NO. They are not in my personal taste & I would not give something like that to anyone, not even as a joke.

I'm so with you. I've heard that argument before... "I'm a woman, therefore I can say that word."

Honey, I don't care who you are, it's still a nasty word and horrible way to make a point. ugh.
