Subject: HALLOWEEN CANDY RECALLED
(verified on snopes: http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/coins.asp)
There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency....
Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled due to
the fact that they contain Melamine, the ingredient in milk product that has
caused many infant deaths in china.
These candies are sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar stores.
please make sure to check your childrens halloween candy and
DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the shiny gold foil)
and please let other parents know about this!

Someone please tell me why we need China so much? :augh:
OK, I know that it's cheaper to get a lot of things from there but, at the risk of our lives?!
I'm sorry, I think we need to figure out how to do more here in our own country.
I know, I know, in a perfect world. :sigh:

I dunno, if the entire global recession thing happens, we might all be shopping *super* local before long.

I have no Idea why we need China so much...other than greed.
But For years now many years now I but trinkets as many as I can get for a dollar it has to be around .04 or 5 cents a kid. I give spiders bugs and such to any one over 3 and larger fun stuff to the under 3 set.
I refuse to spend that money on candy and I refuse to eat the left overs I save them from year to year. The kids love the trinkets and the parents are very happy about one less piece of candy.
I get over 2000 kids at my house cause of my decorations so plastic bat, skull and spider rings are great and cheap.
I remember the candy scares of my youth, pins and god know else there was (70's & 80's ), that is why I do cheap toys.

Cadbury made the news in September having recalled a lot of chocolate.

According to the article, none of the candy recalled was from the US, but it's still disturbing to see this happen. Especially to a big name company.

In my town, the school organizes trick or treating. We get, in our mailbox, a sign (an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper with a cute little ghost on it) and instructions to put it in your window if you are at home and are handing out treats and to take it down when you run out of candy or step out.
The kids gather at the school across the street and they divide into groups of 20 with 3 adults each and then head out... It's been such a success that last year I ran out of candy and decided too get the box of mardi gras beads... The kids loved it and since they were out in groups, I was throwing them off the front porch.
For this year, I ordered another box. :-)

Alot of people I know travel overseas and sometimes bring back chocolate.
Or go to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Only 60 minutes away, not to mention Barry just came back from Asia.
I had to warn him not to eat the chocolate while over there.
