I like to make my own patterns for knitting stuff (I'll get ideas from looking at finished products, maybe look at a pattern or two of the same-ish item I wish to make and then go from there, using my own gauge and yarn size). Since I'm pretty much a beginner, I can do the knits and the purls, switching those up a bit, but so far not much more than that. I do feel that I'm ready to start switching colors, though, to make a design or something on what I want to make.

Unfortunately, my google-fu is all broken and the free sites I've been using don't really go into designs all that much, and I was wondering if any of you ladies (or gents) know of a good site to get ideas or how-tos from? I've been thinking of using graph paper to design, but it's a matter of I'm not sure how to go about it (I'm not an artist by any means).

Thanks in advance!

*Edit: I did find this site (http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/), which I find horribly interesting and awfully useful, but I'm still looking for some more ideas, how-tos, and finished projects to look at.

Try this (http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/matrix/e-index.html) site, knitting graph paper is different from regular graph paper. This site allows you to set the gauge of the graph paper. if you do a search there are more sites out there for this.
