Hello everyone.

My name is Gabrielle Le Fabricant De Sottise and I currently reside in a small hovel in Clayton North Carolina.

I have been dying, literally DYING, to joint IWG and was told I would be a part of #96 Guilde. I have requested my member packet today and will hopefully get my Pin soon, but I doubt it will be in time for Raleigh Faire. I understand that many of you will be there.

Now, major major question, I am trying desperately to find garb on a budget. No I don't sew......at least not yet....and I have NOTHING, absolutely Nothing, but I wanna play at Ren in Raleigh and I don't wanna look like an idiot. Any suggestions? I'm not a little bitty thing so we are talking a lot of fabric......

What else would everyone like to know? Going to go practise wenching. WG

Gabrielle Le Fabricant De Sottise

or Leigh if you want the real name....grins..how boring is that????

Welcomewelcome WELCOME!

I'm not in your local, but you have a bunch of fabulously talented costuming Wenches down there. You'll get kitted out in style in no time!

If you ever come to PA, give a holler!

Thank you for posting. I have ordered my membership packet and am hoping I can play with my guild at the Raleigh Ren Faire. Have some friends interested as well, so am just wanting to know where to go from here. My girlfriends are coming over Saturday to help me make garb, since I have no clue where to even start. None of them have done Ren Faire either, so it should be very humorous. Going to just be making the skirts and the chemise. I am going to try to buy my bodice ready made...cause I need a lot of support and no clue on shoes.

Are the boards always so quiet?

Grins....well....look forward to hearing from everyone. Take care.

Only when we're hiding from the heffalumps and woozles...*g*

Hi, Gabrielle, and welcome aboard! We're looking forward to meeting you at NCRF.

Beginning garb isn't as hard as you'd think. Full circle skirts in solid colors, like the broomstick skirts that are popular right now, can be layered on top of each other. A peasant top or poet's blouse makes a good chemise, and you can put a vest over for a bodice. On the feet, sandals or mary janes will do nicely.

Of course, this isn't the perfect garb - it's just to get you going. I'd suggest doing something simple like that until you have a chance to shop around - there are a number of fabulous costumers out there (some within our own Local!) and you can see their wares first hand at NCRF.

Got some girlfriends coming this week and Saturday for my little own Stitch and Bitch. Am trying to talk them into coming to Ren Faire and maybe even joining the guild.

Where on Saturday do we meet? What time, and who do I find out all the specifics on? Is anyone on here local to Raleigh that I could call and suck their brain dry?

Cant wait to meet you Madame. Grins.....watch out for those heffalumps and woozles.

Going to go play poohsticks....

Gabrielle

take care!!!!

Well, I'd prefer her brains remain somewhat intact  but I've sent our Lieutenant Madame's contact info via email (she's a Durham local)...let me know if you didn't get it.

As for meeting up at NCRF, we usually gather at the bridge right after opening for a pic...if you arrive late, or somehow miss the throng of wenches, just start asking people for Kestrel, or MisRed, or Greycat, or Beatriz, or Jayden, or Miss Rose....you get the idea. It's not a very big place, so you could even walk around yelling my name, and with any luck, I'll hear you!

If it helps, I'll be in red & black, with a leather tricorn hat on my head and a lovely bearded gentleman by my side.

Glad to meet you! Look forward to seeing you Saturday!

So... define "not a little bitty thing!" Tall? Buxom? Round? We have some of each (and a few of us are all of the above!) so, we might be able to help outfit you for the faire. (I'll bring a few things, but I don't have much that isn't *precisely tailored* to me). I'm 5'10-ish and about a size 26.

There is a very strong IWG presence in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill - including myself, Magpie, Jayden, MisRed, Kitty, and others. :)

If you're interested in coming to the Stitch & Bitch on Saturday, March 20th so you can meet everyone before faire - let us know so we can send you directions. It'll be in Durham. :)

Also be sure to join our Yahoo! group - it's where most of the discussion and announcements go out:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ncwenches/

I'm sure there will be an organized "meet and greet" at NCRF - keep your eyes peeled on the Yahoo group and these boards for more information.

lastly... welcome! :)

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!
I'll be at NCRF also. I'm part of the cast so I won't be able to play with the IWG much BUT I will stop by and say hello. I"ll be wearing a forest green bodice w/ earthy colored skirts and a flat hat. Not sure what color the flat will be, hasn't been delivered yet. Tucked in the cleavage I'll probably have a small nosegay of roses. At least that's what I did for the St. Pat's parade. Like other members of the cast, I'll have all kinds of things hanging off my belt....tankard, purse, meat dagger....plus carrying a basket. Just ask around for Syndony Fairbaine and you'll find me. The Yeoman will know me, especially the Seargeant Yeoman.
Looking forward to seeing you at the faire,
godspeed
Paige/Syndony
and yeah, one of our locals made mine and my daughters garb, my daughter is in the cast also
