As in I currently have none...and am trying to get it back...what do you do in your moments of weakness? I am a stress eater and the amount of stress I am still under, though better, is still affecting my ability to say no to food....any thoughts, ideas, etc....
Well I'm having trouble getting back into being "will powered".
However, I know my friend who has lost a lot of weight says that what she asks herself every time she is tempted is:
"Is eating this worth setting myself back?"
99% of the time, she realizes it isn't so she doesn't eat the cookie, the cake, the extra helping or what-have you.

ohh and I forgot an important one..
Remove myself from the situation by going for a quick trip aruond the building to walk a bit. Do something, just don't eat is my motto.

I am pretty good here at work...its at home! I have some fuji apples with me today...I read about a program where you watched what you ate 6 out of 7 days and on that 7th day you could cheat...not eat a whole gallon of ice cream cheat but have a piece of pie...or KFC or whatever your weakness is...anyone heard of this?

Remind yourself that every snack you indulge in means you will gain an extra pound that week. (It takes an estimated 3000 calories to gain 1 pound, which can add up quickly if you are eating cakes, cookies or candy!)
Keep a supply of "safe" snacks on hand at all times when you are stressed, such as carrots or celery. When you find yourself reaching for something that you know you should not be eating, drink a large glass of water (at least eight ounces) and tell yourself that if you still want the goodie, you will go back and get it in an hour. Chances are, an hour later you will either not want it anymore, or (if your office is like mine!) it will be gone.
Good luck, hun.

Great advice! I too am attempting to lose weight but I find myself eating entirely TOO much. On top of that my children have been ill and then other stuff gets in the way of me going to the gym I just joined. I actually stopped and thought about one memonet and realized that i rush in the AM getting my children & hubby breakfast but that i never get myself something to eat. I think that has a great deal to do with it in my case.

Yep, I've heard of this. A few of my co-workers do this. They take one day a week to eat whatever they wish, usually Friday unless they have special plans for the weekend. Seems to work for them.
My problem is I wake up every morning, promise myself that I will be good, get mad at my boss, and before I know it, I've eaten two Snickers bars. Darn emotional eating!

My mom and I are both dieting together so that helps. We're keeping some pickles, yogurt, celery, carrots and some very tasty home made onion dip. I actually like it better than the cheese-its that get me in trouble!

I try to keep that stuff I lable crap food out of my house, does it work.. no I have two kids that take snacks to school everyday.. and please before anyone tells me if I give them healthy snacks now.. blah blah blah... :D They both eat really well at home, school is there crappy snack time.. but I digress.. I try to keep it out of the house (I work from home) and I always have a jug of unsweated decaf icetea made and drink glass after glass of that. Also if I find myself heading for the kitchen (which is what my work desk looks right at) I grab something in my path that needs put away, so I clean and forget what I was doign to start with... sometimes is is good to have a bad case of CRS :rotfl:

I LOVE Fuji apples, they're so sweet it's almost like candy.
When I'm following my plan I eat healthy every day but give myself 1 meal (not one DAY) a week to eat whatever I want and as much as I want. Believe me after a while it got where I'd splurge but on healthier food. Going from Wendy's french fried to lots of baked fries etc.
Now if only I could follow my own plan!

My mom has done the protein diets, lost around 80 pounds. Gained some of it back after granny moved in and everyone was sending her sugar. She's back on. I can't eat that much meat so I'm basically trying to cut out starches breads and sugars. It helps somewhat that my mom only buys these chocolate desserts for my brothers for school, and I don't like chocolate either. Now I just need to pass up those cheese nips!

Well, I vote for the glass of water, but that won't help cravings. I was told that dill pickles kill sweet cravings. and my mantra for when i want to eat something stupid is:
Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.
It helps me a bit in my weightloss journey.

I've found the best way for me to kill habit eating and stress eating is to not have the food where I can get to it. If it's vendor-food, I leave the cash in the car, making it harder to get. If it's cookies at hime, I just don't buy them.
My Merc would sometimes get something I might binge on, but if I told myself, "It's HIS food" I wouldn't touch it. And now he's not bringing that stuff in the house either.

hmmm speaking of will power...
I have been trying to reprogram my thinkig that eating is NOT a reward.....
I used to celelbrate something with icecream or with a dinner out.. now i am tryig to find ways to reward myself without food. Its alot harder than you thought. esp when you are broke...
I read abou tthis once and i laughed it off.. but after much more thought i found out how much we eat as a mean of reward...
Even the comfort food can turn into a reward...
now that i recognize it .. it is kinda odd huh??

I try to keep things -out- of the house.... Half my own battle was just finding out what my food triggers are, and removing them. I know if I bake bread, I'll eat all of it. I know if there are a box of crackers in the house, I'll polish them off in a day.
The hard part is this... the second I Feel like I *cant* eat something, I'll want it that much more, and my entire plan will fly out the window. What I've done is to try to find other things that will satisfy my cravings....
I refuse to give up my coffee, now I just use less sugar and fat free creamer. Im not giving up my chocolate, I am just eating the store brand fudgesicles, which wind up being 1 point on WW :)
Once a week I go to Dunkin donuts and get whatever I want. I dont feel that Ive had to sacrifice anything, I just have to be more aware of what is going into my mouth.
I know this -really- doesnt help anyone who cant control their enviroment (like at work) When I cant control the food around me, one big thing that helps is taking fruits and veggies and slicing them up as thin as I can and picking at them like chips... I usually find that they are much more satisfying than oh... eating a dozen donuts -wince-
