Ladies and well Ladies,
I have some wonderful news! After MUCH hard work, deliberations and
soul-searching an official Hostel site has been agreed upon. It was
a close vote, 2 to 2, which left me with the difficult task of
providing the tie-breaking vote. Two of our wonderful committee
members chose Pendragon and two chose the Horne Shoppe. After much
deliberation and considering all arguments, I broke the tie by
choosing the Horne Shoppe managed by Sakeeta to host our "House of
the Yellow Rose". Both establishments had excellent recommendations;
but with the natural shade provided in the area behind the Horne
Shoppe, the orientation of the site for heat reasons and an offer of
a place to hold packages during the day - seemed to make the Horne
Shoppe a slightly better fit for our requirements.
I also want everyone to know that this is not a permanent decision.
In January of 2006, another hostel committee will be formed to re-
evaluate the decision. The timing allows whoever wins the next
election around 6 months to acclimate to the office before having to
deal with this again.
We are currently waiting upon guild officials for ratification of the
hostel decision.
I would like to thank all the candidates who gave us their time and
offered to allow us to have our Hostel at their site. (Especially
Maritabeth, who took time out of a very busy day before Faire to meet
with the committee.) We were flattered by the hospitality from all
of the candidates, while each one of them would have been more than
adequate - in the end, there could only be one.
Also, I would like to personally thank all the committee members for
their hard work, time and energy that they put into this difficult
project.
So please, when you see them out and about - give Mary, Rhia,
Neelloca, and Isabelle your appreciation when you see them next!
