Know of any bagpiping groups or places in that area where one can learn the bagpipes?

My honey wants to learn. He bought a chanter this past weekend to learn the basics, but having a teacher would be most helpful.

Thanks

your best bet would be to contact Dutchess County Police Emerald Society...they could point you in the right direction.

now that i think of it, not even sure if there IS a Dutchess chapter of PES.. but thers a westchester chapter...

Thanks I'll suggest tit to him. I did actually ask him about fire departments and such because around me and in NYC they always seem to have a drum and pipe core. He claims none around him do. However at a recent WWII reenactment, we met a nice man from NJ who plays and he told us about a group that plays a local pub in Hyde Park that has a piper and we're going to check that out.

I actually know someone that gives bagpipe lessons...But she lives here in Rockland County. If that's not too far for him to go (maybe on weekends?) I can drop her a line and ask if she's open to it.

PM me if you need more info.

Hey, I didn't know you guys were from Rockland County... I hang out there alot. Go to this bar (Jimmy something's sports and billiards) and T&A'a in Monsey... Yes, I know it's a strip club, and sometimes Stilettos too... I have a good friend up there

Tink -

I just put out some inquiries for an instructor for the Demi-God down here in PA -- waiting on responses.

He's also got a student chanter and has been trying, but without much success.

But if he and Jim got together and started to...well....bleat...... :) :)

LOL.....hey Jim's not bad with that canter. It's tolerable.

I hope they both find teachers. I know Jim is eager to learn as I am sure Daniel is.

I'm letting him play outside.

I'm hoping it'll scare the freakin' ants and spiders away.

Well, if it's an Uilliean pipe chanter, it'll scare the snakes away. That'd be nice.
