I'm doing ladies!
Tomorrow i am going to hit 4 or t he 6 gyms in town.
24 hour is out of the question- too expensive/high pressure for me
The other local gym that is out is one that is run by a guy who does steroids and is an ASSHOLE.
So that leaves with a privately owned womans gym, Curves, Figure Magic, and the Y.
I'm looking at: Price, how busy it is, hours open, programs available/equipment.
I'll report back tomorrow..

I, the ever intrepid shopper, am back from the gym shopping.
Curves- Everyone here pretty much knows the deal. Circuit training. $29/mo $75 down.
Local womens gym- is actually owned by one of the larger gym franchises. The price made me gasp, as it the interior of the gym. Old equipment, no classes, no pool. And a Downpayment that would choke a horse.
The Y- Same prices as Curves. Pool, classes, free weights. Down side- kids everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE.
Figure Magic- similiar to curves in that it is circuit training, but they also have some weights and aerobics classes 3 times a day. The local FM is running a special (they just opened) $20/down and 1st month ($19) month to month membership. I got a tour and a free workout on the circuit machines and got to join the aerobics class. Very cool, nice ladies, no sales pressure. I plunked down my $39 and I start going regularly Monday at 10am, 3 days a week. Woo hoo!
For me it was more a matter of money than time. Right now I have lots of free time on my hands and I am spending most of it sewing or writing. This gives me a chance to get out of the house!
Woo hoo!
Know I have to go buy shorts to wear to work out in. I wore a pair of bloomers this morning.

Don't go overboard on the purchase of workout clothes.
Of course I do suggest getting a really good support bra for working out in. That and my shoes are the only workout apparel that I am will to pay more than $15.00 for.
The best deal on workout clothes I found was actually at Wal-Mart. Remember it is not a fashion show. The only requirements are that you be covered, able to have a wide range of motion and comfortable.
Also, ladies please remember to check the inseams on your work out shorts/ pants. I know we all put on clean underwear but, that does not mean the rest of the world wants to see them.

I just need a bra and some shorts. My old workout bra is far too big now. My poor boobs. They just keep shrinking. Target here I come.
Also- helpful hint-
If you must wear white shorts to the gym- Please do not wear the red underwear with them!
EEK!

I haven't seen you before so please forgive me upfront if I come across as too personal. If you wear a C cup or larger you really need to get a support bra from a specialty shop. (If you wear smaller than a C cup consider yourself lucky and save some pennies.)
Just a "sports top" like found in the workout areas of stores like Target, Wal-Mart, Oshman's etc are not going to have enough support. You will always have some jiggle when you walk but the more you can reduce it the better off you will be in the long run.
They do make support bras for larger chested women. . . they are not the most attractive (don't use for sudection scene) but they are the most comfortable on the market if they fit correctly.
Good Luck
