Since my recent surgery, I have found I have absolutely NO ability to keep alcohol on my stomach... :tantrum:  :cuss: :( :augh:
For this to happen at this time of the year is like going to the store and finding only celery and carrot sticks left for munching on Super Bowl Sunday!!!
Granted, I'm not a lush (well, at least I'm never as think as you drunk I am!!) and I was wondering if any of you could come up with good non-ahol drink ideas? If anyone wants to submit "real" drink recipes, that's fine too... I just know that many of us are creative, and are able to concoct new treats both for the teetotalers and mead-lovers alike. :)
Cheers! :bananada:

Oh Allie,
that can't be much fun. Though I find I can not tolerate alcohol well any more..
Our new years tradition cam about from having several teens or pre-teens in the house. They always started trying to sneak our champagne.. so we got smart, we go buy a BUNCH of bottle of sparkling juices.. white and red grape, all cider, peach ciders.. etc.. depending on how much you wan to pay per bottle, (and where you shop) there are quite a few different flavors available. we figure out how many bottles we have, save one(or 2) for New Years day. and figure out how often we can open them from the time I have our party foods ready until the last one is opened at midnight. No one complains about not getting what someone else is getting.. though my oldest has been known to act as though he got frunk on the sparkling juice ( he is just weird what can I say   )
I will check through my recipes, I think I might have a few non alcholic things as well.. if I can find them after moving the entire room tog et the tree in... sigh I want a bigger house!!! lol

If you can drink schnapps - it's a lifesaver.
I don't drink much sometimes and i've found drinks that use low alcohol schnapps for flavoring a respite from the stomach-chruning effects of stronger alcohols. I can drink 6 fuzzy navels to anyone's 2 rum and coke and never feel the alcohol. Fuzzy navel - orange juice and a shot of peach schnapps. Try apple juice and cinnamon schnapps too - yum.
Otherwise - here's how I survived college peer pressure to drink - without drinking.
Fix a soda and GARNISH it like a mixed drink. No one ever knew I wasn't imbibing. Fruit drink mixes are always fun too - combine several different juices - garnish and you look like a tropical breeze.
I personslly love the sparkling juices and drink them on occasion just for fun. Good luck.

my family has grown to love the sparkling juices so much, they fight over them! and I have to hide them if I buy them ahead of time, or someone will "imbibe secretly".
Last week the local "dollar type" store Fred's had sparkling grape juice for 1.88 a bottle.. went and began my stock up!
Check out TGI Fridays site: http://www.tgifridays.com/mixology/nonalcoholic.htm
It gives the recipes for several of their non-alcoholic drinks with pictures!!!

I rarely drink alcohol - I'm not a tea-tottler, I just don't care for it much. I do have a great punch recipe I made up and it always gets rave reviews.
Mix 1 bottle raspberry/cranberry juice to about 3/4 bottle (2 litre) of lemon-lime soda (7UP, Sprite, etc.) in a punch bowl or other large container. Drop scoopfuls of raspberry sherbet into the liquid.
That's it - serve it in cups and make sure there's a bit of sherbet in the cup along with the punch. It's very refreshing and festive. You also can float fresh or frozen raspberries in the punch, or use raspberry-flavored soda or ginger ale as the mixer.

The punch that I'm always asked to bring is a mix of equal parts frozen grape juice, (the real stuff - 100% juice,) lemonade, and other frozen fruit juice that sounds good - cranberry, passion fruit (when I can find it,) whatever. I use ginger ale as the base - no water - and to keep it cold linger, I add a bag of frozen fruit - my favorite is blackberries. This can be made with as little as 3 cans to 2 liters of gingerale, or for as many as 100 people - my graduation party. :blossom:
Enjoy!

Allie:
I like to mix cranberry and club soda. Gives you the carbonation that I want, but not much sugar like regular soda does. I guess you could mix other juices with the club soda. Make sure you don't use tonic water, that has a limey taste; club soda is just carbonated water.

Here's one for you:
Pink Panties
1 12 oz can frozen pink lemonade concentrate
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup crushed ice
toss it all in a blender, blend until smooth. If you want to add a kick to it, as 12 oz of gin before blending.
Here's a really good link for drink recipes though: http://beverage.allrecipes.com/default.asp
