:D Hi, My name s Jennifer, I am from Tallahassee, But am moving to Virginia Beach in the next few months. I looked it up and I guess this will be my new local. I was a terrible lazy person in my last local, I never participated and never met any of the other wenches, I don't even dress for faire. I would how ever like to change all that and I hope that some of you might be a little closer to where I am then the wenches in my old local were. I've beena member a little over 3 years, and like I said would really love to meet all of you and be invloved more than I had. :) Thanks for taking the time to "listen" to me! Hope ya'll have a great day!

Hi GraceJayne! A few things:
First, Welcome! I know we have a few wenches down in your area--they'll say hi soon, I'm sure.
Second, we have a Yahoo Group for the local--it gets messy there once in a while ( you know how wenches can be) but it's the best place to find out what's going on. check the archives here for how to join.
Third, we also have a Team Wench, a fundraising pseudo offshoot that is always welcoming members. It also has a Yahoo group (imagine that). Let me know if oyu would like to join us in our fun fundraising--two weeks ago we all went to Reston (ok some of us went) and pitched a tent at the relay for Life. We dressed in garb for (most) of the time, walked the race, and and while we may not have raised a lot of money, we won Best Team Theme and Most Team Spirit. Not bad for a first-year team, really.
Again, welcome!

Welcome!
This local is an incredible group of women. Should you be at faire and see a wench with a pin STOP HER! She will introduce herself and anyone around her and invite you for a shopping excursion!
I live in Richmond, not too far away, and I know we have a few wenches in VA Beach! Katie Skarlett being one that comes to mind immediately.
Jump in. You will enjoy this group (not to say the last local wasn't fun!) We are all friendly and can't wait to meet you!
P.S. We do meet and greets at the Dragon Inn each day of faire, GREAT way to meet people!

Thanks ya'll for the welcomes! I appreciate it :)
I am so glad to meet ya'll! like I said never really met any of the women from my old local, everything they did seemd to be in the sarasota area and that is way too far for me to drive very often.
When is the Maryland faire? I arrive in VA in August, probably too late for this year. :( Also my ability to attend kinda revolves around if Hub (what I call my husband online, lol) is shipped out or not. I have a friend who offered to escort me in his place though if I promise to wear my corset, lol. It's all about the Mams isn't it? But I've never put it on before and wouldn't know where to start! We had it custom made by the lady at Casta Diva (does the n. fl ren fest don't know if she does any others) for my wedding and ended up putting it off till later and just going to the JOP. LOL. Someone will have to tell me how in the hell to get that thing on!

LOL. Darling, you will be right on time. MDRF runs from late August to early October.
As for the corset, I know exactly who to take you to. We'll arrange to have the best lacer in the faire to take care of you. :D Seriously, Chris does a great job. As we get closer to faire, we'll set it up.
Now go get on our local Yahoo group!

Oh, that timing is good the isn't it?
I wouldn't by any chance be lucky enough to have Chris stand for Christina would I? LOL. I know when she fitted me with one of her corsets (the lady that made mine) her helper man seemed somewhat uncomfortable holding it in place in the front while she did up the back. LOL. It was blushes all the way around.
I joined the group lastnight actually and have been reading posts most of the day :)
Hope to talk to you soon.

Excellent! I get the list in Digest Mode, so I'll see it on Tuesday in my inbox (I'm not at work over the weekend).
Chris is not short for Christina--it's Chris the Cheese Rogue, who works at Dancing Pig Pottery. He's well-loved by the wenches, because of his ability at lacing. Knows several versions, too, so if astring breaks, he can relace so you stay in and up without any worry. :-)
Looking forward to meeting you,
jsut Lori
