My silk guy unearthed a bunch of awesome silk in one of his 11
storage units.....
So on Sunday I'll have the chance to buy silk twill in baby blue,
forest green, adobe red, chocolate brown, burgundy and vanilla cream.
And in Sandwashed silk, i can get jade green, black, and saffrom.
I have swatches if anyone wants some, drop me an email with your
address and i can get them out tomorrow.
Its all 45 inches wide, $4.00 a yard plus shipping (pretty cheap silk
is very lightweight). I take checks, MO's, and paypal.
If anyone is interested, let me know. I am hoping to make some cash
at the event i am merchanting Saturday to bankroll a LARGE purchase
of silk Sunday. This is making up for the poor selection in LA's garment district. I ONLY spent $80.00!!
I'm not going to take any pre-orders, I'm just going to buy all I can afford, then turn around and make a list of what I got and how much, then let all the intereested parties now what I've got. Then its 1st come, 1st served.
Just to let ya'll know where all my fabu fabrics come from I have a silk and linen supplier that is AWESOME. He pulls nice colors and fabrics for me. He sells at
a local flea market that has alot of Fabric. He is the nicest little
old Lebanese man. I told him he should sell fabric online, and he
laughed and told me that no one wants to buy fabric... then he told
me if I wanted to sell it for him, he'd give me "special deal" (special deal consists of him giving me a 50 gallon garbage bag of linen once a month, lemme tell ya, I got some awesome garb!) . When
I first started buying from him about a year and a half ago, I posted
something on the SCA garb list about him, and letting everyone know I
could get linens and silks pretty cheap and I'd share my good luck
with those who lived in places without good linen. I got tons of
nasty emails calling me a liar and a theif (and alot worse from some
people that are pretty well known for being fabric sellers)
because I couldnt supply everyone with a name, address, email and
website for this store. No one believed me that it wasnt a store, it
was a kind old Lebanese man with a knack for bidding on fabric lots
in LA and his 11 sotrage units.. To let ya'll know what kind of
fabric he bids on, my mom and I bought some silk chiffon from Sam, it
was red shot with black. It had SAMPLE stamped on the selvedge, 2
weeks later we were at Nordstroms browsing hte Couture section (ok
making fun of hte ugly dresses) and a $10k dress was made fromthe
EXACT same fabric as our sample. When we asked him, Sam said he buys
alot of his fabric lots from Nordtrom's garment makers (the people
that make the Nordy's brand stuff). i have a grey silk/linen blend
cotehardie that was a summer suit for Nordstroms...
I'm pretty sure that I'll be getting to go through the storage units
in the next 3 weeks, and I'll be consigning some bolts from him, so
if anyone is looking for special colors or anything special (silk
brocades? Wool silk blends? linen silk blends?) lemme know.
He also has an 80 yard bolt of navy blue linen. It's $4.00 a yard, 60
inches wide and its so SOFT (I bought 10 yards last week, its like
buttah!!)
Enough of me...
I'mm offfff to bed.
