What is teh benefit to doing Hammer Curls versus Regular Bicep Curls?
I haven't been able to tell much really in my biceps, however I do know that the Hammer Curls are more comfortable on my hands. I do them with both a Bar and dumbells.

Well Hun first off I'm flattered that you asked for my advice, second i need to know what kind of equipment you are using and if you are working at home or a gym. This is important for the fact that the typ of bar you use isolates the muscle groups differently. for instance a long bar curl will focus more on forearm, grip, and hand possitions will also work different muscle groups in the Biceps. A norrow grip (shoulder width) will work more the long head while a wider grip (2 fist difference outside of shoulder width) wil work the short head of the Bicep.
An EZ Bar will take the strain off the wrists to a point and also give you a preset distance to work with.
Dumbbells Also isolate the muscles better by also working the Brachialis or stabalizer muscle groups.
Hammer curls work the full Arm and allow more Muscles to assist in the lift, this is why the hammer curls are easier to do. also they lock the wrist in a more stabalized position.
Hope that helps

That’s Ok this is an open forum and to answer the question at hand...
A Hammer Curl is an exercise that is done to assist in strength training and toning of the Biceps and forearms. It involves the use of Dumbbell weights in both hands, palms facing in and you start the lift.
Here is a demonstration of the Hammer Curl (http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Brachioradialis/DBHammerCurl.html) But I recommend doing the lift simultaneously

I use a straight bar, and dumbells. They don't have the EZ bars available for the class. For Better Results, I should vary my grip through the sets in addition to the Hammers?
I use a slightly wider grip than shoulder as it is more comfortable for me, not less work, just a comfort level. It isn't even a fist past shoulder, but maybe a half a fist difference.
Well. I am a Golds Gym Girl, and partake in the Body Pump classes. I love them.. I see results, and I don't get bored, nor do I lose motivation half way through. We do high reps with lighter weights. The aim is not to bulk, but to shape. I have been at it 2-3 times weekly with cardio as a fill in on non-class days for just over two months now. I discover a new Body part just about every week. Last night it was shoulders. They aren't mushy any more.. ;) Last week it was Pecs. The week before it was forearms.. So who knows what next week will bring.

And I asked you as you have a very nice build fromt eh pics I have see, and haven't sacraficed flexibility for bulk from what I can tell (the Bendy Reports) and you seem to have a good basic overall knowledge of Sports and Physical Fitness.
I know teh mechanics behind if from taking exercise Philosophy and Kineseology, but we never actually studied the difference exercises per se as those were part of the grad program at the time.
