I was getting ready to order 5 dozen parasols for an SCA event next weekend and it crossed my mind that wenches may want some as well.

you can see what they look like at:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca6/alkcostuming/accessories.htm

They are 1/2 way down the page.
They are 36 inches wide when they are open and have a 36 inch long handle.

I have 4. 1 plain, 2 painted and 1 covered in fabric. I love them so much!

I sell them on my site and on ebay for $7.50 plus shipping (about $8.50), and i've seen them at faire and SCA wars for upwards of $25.00 (that's Crazy!) but I am offering them to fellow IWG-er's for $12.00 including shipping.

But Abigail you crack head, will you combine for shipping? YEAH!!

So one will be $12.00, everyone after that is $6.00. I can get 3 in the same postal tube, but I am the creative packer and box mutilator, so if you order a bunch I will get a box big and ship them...

Now off to call my supplier and order a TON of these guys.

Abigail,
The fair skinned wench who loves shade

I meant My personal collection has a fabric covered one. They are all paper, you can cover them, color them, paint them, deccopauge (SP?) them to your hearts content.

They come in Fushia and turquoise too. I think they look hideous, but I really don't like pink, the turquoise ones make me fell like I should have a GIANT fruity drink...

They also cost more... Don't ask why... Maybe its a hideous tax...

I don't know about water proof but mom shelaced hers, with acrylic paint seal, you can get it at michael's/ben franklin. Its pretty damned stiff.

We use acrylic paint on ours, but someone told me you can use tempra, but that runs if you get it wet (but you can shelac it or spray clean sealer on it).

I have one that I bought from you. I like it. I want to know what type of glue you used to attach the fabric ? Only because I don't want to use a real stiff glue that will crack over time, with opening and closing it.
Thanks,

I use spray adhesive. 3M makes it. I got mine spray can at home Despot, but I think Wal-mart sells it to in the home improvements sections.

My mom used some Glue made by Alieen's like "its ok to wash" or the deccopauging glue.

Abagail, if the stuff you're talking about is called Super 77, I have a few warnings for it that I think are important. It's one of the strongest commercially available spray adhesives you can find, and it will do the job without flaking or drying out too much.

However, spray outside and/or use a mask because this stuff is very potent. I got a stupid goofy high :lumpy: working with the stuff for just fifteen minutes, and I never get affected by spray paint, or other stuff like that. And it gave me the killer of all headaches. :ow:

Also, it doesn't come off anything including skin, so cover EVERYTHING you don't want to get sticky. If you do get it on yourself, standard dish soap will work better to get rid of it than anything else. :bath:

I just wanted to warn everyone about my nasty experiences with this stuff, so perhaps you won't have to repeat them! So, keep my advice in mind, and good luck with your parasols!!! :bananada:
(just wanted an excuse to use him!!!)

Thanks for the glue info, also in another post, the warning. I have used the spray before. I does work, it is also very sticky. I used it outside to glitter a huge garage size poster. It is very strong smelling :blech:
I now have lots of ideas. Hummm, I may have to order more.

Another tip for removing stuff from skin - a lot of times, simple oil such as olive oil will remove a lot of things from your skin and be good for it, too! Great for paint - not sure about adhesive!

According to the tracking thingy I got from the wholesaler the Fed Ex man is supposed to be here today.

And he usually comes about 2pm, which means after I give the parasols all the once over, I will pack them up and take them to the post office this afternoon.

I wonder if the Fed ex guy is as hot as the UPS man....

Ok, Last night at like 8:45PM the stupid fex ex guy showed up. And I ripped him one.

Today I pawed thru the parasols to discover only 1 of the 3 dozen were flawed.

I swear this is the last time I am going through this supplier. They are really nice about returns, but the fact that it has taken me this long is a waste of my time.

That being said, here is who I have down on my list-

Moira (2) PAID
Aiofe (2) PAID
Kelly (can't remember wench name sorry) (2) PAID
Rebecca -renaissance remembered (12) PAID

They will go out Monday AM. I will there when the PO opens!

If anyone else is interested, I have 6 left in this batch and hte new dozen to replace the flawed dozen will be here Weds.

Now back to working on my website....
