Can someone help me out? I'm driving to CRF from NY and am trying to figure out the tolls. All the tolls. So I can put the cash aside in advance. So I don't end up skipping meals that weekend.

I've been checking out DOT/turnpike authority websites, but once I get out of MD, I can't seem to locate any more toll info. I'll be coming down 95 and then picking up 85 in VA. I ahven't been down that far in a few years and I can't recall if 95 is a toll road in VA. Anyone know where I can find this info? Also, is 85 a toll road in VA or NC?

Thanks in advance!

85 in Virginia? Do you mean I-81 or is "85" a state route.?

As far as I know, once you get south of Baltimore there aren't any toll roads. I'm pretty sure I-95 from DC down is not toll, and I know for sure that I-81 south has no tolls. I don't know for sure about state routes, but I doubt they're tolls.

I live in DC, family is still in Tennessee, daughter and sister are in NC, so I travel those roads pretty frequently. It only seems to be yankees and borderline yankess (Baltimore) that have tolls.

Enjoy the trip.

Thank goodness! I'm up to about $25 between NY, NJ, & MD. And I'm pretty sure the directions said I-85...just don't have it handy right this second.

Sorry, I'd forgotten about I-85 - it cuts sw from Richmond down into NC. I doubt its toll. I'll see if my sister has any info on that road. From DC to Charlotte down 95 and 85 its about 400 miles.

From my sister:

Richmond doesn't indicate any real problems with 85. VA says no construction on 85 at all.
Construction around mile marker 176/177 for 2 to 5 miles - heavy! traffic pretty much at all times in & around Durham (where 85 & 40 run together for a while).
If she takes 85 on down to the Faire, the major Charlotte construction is just on the far side of the exit she would take.

If you see Lavender Dragon/Heather (young wench, about 19, skinny, will be in black and/or purple and/or dark green) at CRF, give her a hug for me.

Just adding my two cents.

No tolls on 85.

Construction in/around faire on 85 is depends upon how fast the project is moving. It *should* be south of the exit(s) used for area hotels & faire. I can't say for sure what it will look like on any given weekend, but feel free to pm me if you want an up-to-the-weekend road report.
