Carpool is a grand idea. For anyone in the NC area, I'm always glad to drive, and Gabrielle (my car, she's purple!) is in very good and reliable condition, and comfortably fits five! I hate having such a huge car, but she's useful at times!

Unless, is there anyone who is looking for someone to go in on a room at one of the local hotels with? I plan on staying Friday and Saturday nights. If I can get someone or a few someones to split the cost of a room with, I wouldn't have to sleep in my tent, much as I love it. any takers? I don't snore, smell or sleepwalk, though I've been told I do sing in my sleep on occasion....

Definitely, woman. I want to go with as many people as we can get-- I'd LOVE to not have to take my car, and I really dislike driving, though I'm willing to navitage and play DJ and cruise director and WILL drive when I have to. I think I just did too much of it when I was on circuit. So who else do you think might go? Are we taking bets on O'Cin?

Well, here's my offer to you - if it's just you, and time permits, wanna come down Thursday p.m. on 4/22, stay at my house, and we'll leave early day on 4/23 and drive and eat and listen to music all day and get to Georgia in time to eat our pillow-mint and get tucked in and then play, play, play and then drive back on Monday??? Will this work for you? Any suggestions as to WHERE to stay down there, or have you already made reservations or what?? I'm pretty sure that Chelle is going - to be honest, I just decided within the last 1/2 hour to definitely go, so haven't even told anyone other than the hubby! *LOL* Missed you at NCRF, so, since I'm not working this faire, we definitely have to PLAY!! Okay, here's my convoluted deal so far:

Last week, in a fit of musically-inspired euphoria, I bought tickets to not one but two shows by an amazing group, long-defunct but now arisen-- called October Project. (www.octoberproject.net) When? Yeah, you guessed it: May 23rd, 7.30 and 10. I spent $50 on one ticket to each show, and more importantly, I'm INSANE for this group. However, having said that, I've researched flights to Atlanta, and it looks like I could potentially go from the show to the airport, catch a 6am flight, and get down there by 8.30am, in time for faire Saturday.

Now, the friends I'm staying with-- Todd and Kay: dear, dear people-- have an acre and a half just outside walking distance from faire. They've offered their place for anyone who wants to camp-- I already claimed the guest room-- sorry! Kay is herself a Wench, though she doesn't post here much, and Todd's just gifted me with a BEAUTIFUL recurve bow. I'm so excited I could spit. Don't worry, though-- I won't.

So if you'd like to camp out there, please let me know, and I'll let them know!

I already claimed MY patch of earth, but man...I am a bit worried about whether I'll be able to attend. My kids dad won't take them for the weekend, and I'm a bit afraid to leave them with my mom, and I don't want to bring them....we'll see.

There seems to be a small cash flow problem here. It is flowing the wrong stinkin way!

Anywho, I do plan on being there in spirit. Or more likely, having my spirits there. Going to put a rush on some bottling I have been putting off. And hope to send a bottle or two with my sweetheart.

But it does mean that you will just have to plan on coming to visit me at FLaRF next year. Plan on President's Day Weekend. I have plans in the works, okay just in my mind for now, for that weekend. :twisted: And can use help!

Yup. I am hocking the ring to finance this trip. Since I've been divorced several years and the ring is *not* a family heirloom, I feel no attachment to the rock. However, I do feel a strong attachment to several of the folks who will be in GA that weekend, so, that's that.

As for my hemming and hawing, fence-straddling and wishy-washing back and forth about the trip, I've decided to just say "awww, screw it," and go.

Can't wait to see everybody! This is SO gonna ROCK!! :singdanc:

Now I just have to figure out how the hell I'm going to get my custom silver rose dagger down there. I somehow don't think I'll be allowed on the flight with it.... My belt will feel so empty without it, though!

If you are checking your luggage, then no problem, except for the issue of luggage locks being broken open to search contents. Call your airline and explain your situation if you plan to check bags. They should be able to advise.

If you are doing carry on only, then you can *still* see if you can pack a small box containing the dagger and put that on thru with the stowed luggage. Only problem with that is that you'll have to wait for it. Icky if you're not checking stuff.

Or.. you could send it to someone who's driving and have them hand deliver to you at faire.

GARF? God I love that faire but I doubt I can pull off a weekend trip down in that area and somehow not get guilt tripped into driving to Orlando to visit the parents. I might be able to pull it off but I don't know anyone down there anymore! AUGH!

Depends on how work goes, I'd be willing to car pool also.

Hey, ladies, I have a small favor to ask! My (newly acquired, loooooong story) boyfriend might be able to make it to GARF with me. He's a wonderful sweet guy and a real cutie. However, due to theatre polotics, etc. which have been aimed quite cruelly at him for years, he has no idea how wonderful he is.
IF he can make it (and he's never been to faire before, either) would any ladies there be willing to help me make sure his first faire is a great one? He could definitely benefit from a little affectionate femlae attention!

Thanks in advance! After asking all this, I hope he can make it now!!! I should know for sure in a few days.

Yes, I will be there, no matter what. My current plan is driving down Friday evening camping out and being ready to go first thing Saturday morning. Be there Saturday and Sunday and then drive back home Sunday night to start new job on Monday. I'm sooooooo looking forward to this. My first invasion! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

What sort of shmuck schedules a new job (not just for me, this is seasonal work, so it's the whole crew) to start on Memorial day? I mean, really. Most people have plans with their families for the long weekend, that require Monday as a recovery day, or at least a driving day.

Dante's Down the Hatch does still exist here in Atlanta... ;) Just wanted to let you know... Another good place in Little Five Points is The Brewhouse Pub...although is a bit of a drive from faire to either one of those places. :)

I'm finishing the lace and elastic casing on my new bloomers tomorrow, and making favors (I forgot ALL about favors, can you believe that?), then I have to pack, then I have to go to work, come home, shower, wake up at six thirty on Friday, take the kids to school, meet my driving partners, and we're OFF to Atlanta!!

Actually, a friend of mine bought a bodice on e-bay from a vendor who will be at GARF this weekend - Odd Bodkins - ever heard of them? I'm going to go try one of theirs on - seemed reasonably priced - beautiful fabric - I was impressed - and I don't often get out of my personal little corner! :stunned: Also, my MDRF boss has a booth at GARF - Bullseye - and I know they have new styles this year (velvets & different cuts), so definitely gonna check out the new stock! :wink: Anyway, have been planning on making these purchases (I need them to work in this Fall at MDRF!), so figuring the expense is justified, right?! :haloslip: (la la la) Looking forward to this trip and, hopefully, some SUNSHINE! 8) Am in serious need of some Georgia heat so I can thaw out from this Maryland winter! :lol: Everyone have a safe trip!!!!! {hugs} cc
