Per my bitch about my weight and my unhappiness with it, i decided to write up a few new year's resolutions, it being Nov. 1st-ish and such.
No candy
No cheese (and fewer dairy products in general)
No Junk food (chips, cookies)
No more soda or juice that has high fructose corn syrup in it.
No fast food more than twice a month. -Sometimes those McDonald's fries just call to me, can't give them up outright!
More fruits, veggies, non-white breads and meats.
Go to the gym at least twice a week.
Now, so far it's been exactly a day and a half. I have not touched any of the newly forbidden food items, and honestly I'm feeling okay about it. I even went to the gym last night and jogged on the treadmill for 30 minutes.
now, on top of all of this, I'm thinking I'll probably save $30 a month in eating out and buying of soda, junk like that. So it's kinda cool.
Did i miss anything that's really bad for you food-wise?

talk about the perfect example of a thread jack... ~chuckle~
Per my bitch about my weight and my unhappiness ...
when I first read this, I thought you said "Pet my bitch"... Must learn to read slowly and avoid these whoopsies...
and I've always been told that it's not what you eat so much as how much of it you eat. You're doing good with limiting your fast food intake... I'm not sure I'd go so far as to completely cut out certain foods. It's a psychological reaction I've noticed - you vow that you're not allowing yourself to have it and sure enough, you begin to crave it. At least, it's happened to me and some of my friends.
Lots of luck and tons of encouragement to you! I've got to get back to my kickboxing classes and see about some bellydance classes nearby as well.
Remember, if you do fall off of the 'no such-and-such' wagon, don't feel horrible about it. shrug your shoulders and keep plugging away!

Good luck hun!
One thing though - about your 'no-dairy' thing... studies have shown that 3 (intelligent) servings a day increase fat-loss in the belly-area. Just make sure those choices are skim, low or non fat.

Non-fat does awful things to me. :( I'll go for skim, maybe, but not non-fat!
But I was planning on drinking milk and yogurt, those are friendly to me it seems.
There's a partial knee-jerk thing there...my ex hsuband used to put about half a pound of cheese on EVERYTHING we ate...and i noticed I put on a ton of weight, but when he was restricted in his cheese intake, he dropped weight like crazy and so did I.
Mostly my problem lies with the amount of cheese I consume, and I figure if I cut that out then I'm on my way!
I dropped 20 lbs last year when I wasn't drinking soda and avoiding cheese...so...yay! :)

One thing that worked for me was little 'rewards' I gave myself... with all the money you're gonna save by restricting Mickey D's.... you might wanna think about the same idea.
Keep us posted, darlin!

Good plan! I think cultured dairy makes a difference over regular dairy - kefir, yogurt, cottage cheese even vs. plain milk & cheeses. When I eat kefir or yogurt, I can maintain and/or continue to lose a little weight. When I quit totally, it seems to creep back up.

Skim is non-fat so if non-fat does bad things to you don't go for skim. good luck.
my weightloss is at a standstill right now but i'm getting good muscle tone which is good. I'm just too busy to cook and that stuff. I have about 40 pages due in the next 2 weeks along with my Latin and my actual job. Blech. YAY GRAD SCHOOL!! LOL

Well, I was talking more like non-fat cheese and non-fat yogurt. They do awful things to my tummy and give me embarassing quantities of gas.
Skim milk itself out of the carton does nothing to me. I do know, though, that after drinking skim milk for a while, drinking 2% tastes like you're swallowing melted butter. Ew. :x
I sorta slipped tonight...I went to the bookstore, got a book , and ordered a hazelnut latte so I could read the book and sip the coffee. However, it was decaf, non-fat milk, only a medium, not a large, and I did not chug the whole thing I usually did.
I will be up the entire night paying for drinking espresso at 8 PM, but so be it. *chuckle* It'll learn me good..
I just couldn't see sticking around in a bookstore Cafe without the cafe.... :( But I'm thinking next time I"ll somehow manage to wait and get home where I can sip water or tea with no sugar.
So far no consumption of cheese, cookies, candy or chips, though! Woo-hoo!
And while I did not make it to the gym tonight, I plan to walk either tomorrow or Friday, possibly drag out my belly-dancing or hula tapes and exercise to them in addition to running on the treadmill at the gym. I dunno, does anybody else feel like a hamster when they do that??

Excellent idea, AND I am already doing it.
Thanks to Mr. McTavish I am in the middle of not one, but TWO HP Lovecraft books.
it's great to see the looks on peoples' faces when I come in bearing a book with some...er...interesting graphics on the cover and proceed to walk on the treadmill.
It's sort of like "me" time, I even bring a CD player to listen to my favorite music! :D
