I'm digging up my ancestral line and may (stress the word *may*) be able to pay a visit out to your Boston area right around Christmas/New Year's. As part of my advance planning, I'm trying to find the cemetary that my mom's branch of the family has a plot at.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Even better, assuming this trip happens, would anyone be willing to house an intinerant musician who would rather not have to pay for a hotel room? :pweeease: I'm cute, I don't eat (much), and I don't take up much space - OK, well, at least I don't take up much space. And I do offer space in return for anyone coming out this way.

If you can come just before Christmas, you could stop in at the Victorian Christmas faire run by Pastimes at Hammond Castle in Gloucester, see the Nutcracker in Boston and do lots of other things . . . besides doing the geneology thing.

There are lots of cemetaries in Dedham (bad play on words, I wonder who came up with that one!). Do you know which one you are looking for?

Let us know when you have definite dates for your visit.

Alas, I would be visiting *after* Christmas. There's apparently some kind of Faire Withdrawal gathering happening in Salem or that area on December 27 that I've learned about from AtTheFaire.com's "The Pub" area that I hope to attend. The time off that I've asked for is Christmas through Jan. 2, with a return to work on Monday, Jan. 5, so I'd be there the week *after* Christmas (but definitely by the 27th I'd be there).

As to which cemetary - not a clue, except it's apparently the "family plot" containing Walter Campbell and his son Elmer Irving Campbell (great-grandfather and grandfather, respectively), plus some others. And it's reportedly still an active cemetary (as opposed to a cemetary that's not taking any more bodies in). I might be able to find out more from my mom, or from a couple of relatives (that I don't realyl know that well) that live in the area.

So how many dead places are there in Dedham, anyway? (And no comment about the groaner of me digging up my relatives at a cemetary? Sheesh.... )

Josie,

That was me who mentioned about the Faire Withdrawal Gathering that will be happening in Salem on Dec. 27th. I'm so glad that you are determined to be here for it. It'll be good to finally meet you, too!!!

Well, hang on, lass, that vacation's not set in stone just yet. Christmas around the office is always a contentious time for vacations, although I have some priority as I've not taken a vacation around Christmas yet and I've been there almost six years and, due to turnover, I have some good degree of seniority as well as some degree of responsibility - not only legal secretary but also assistant IT Manager. (Sixth senior secretary, BTW, out of about 25, and I've been at that level for a couple of years now.)

So it looks good, but let's make sure the frelling thing's confirmed. I just want to see if someone can point me in the right directions if/when I get there, and if someone's willing to let me sleep under their roof, that's even better. :D But yeah, I'd definitely like to come out that way. Don't have much else to do that time of year, except work. And given this much notice, I have this way of making things happen that I want to have happen. :wizard: Heh, heh, heh....

BTW - I *do* have the name of the cemetary - Brookdale Cemetary. That help?
