Hello everyone. Is everyone as busy as I am this time of year?
I know I promised to post about the upcoming elections after TRF - I just planned to do it long before now. Sorry. :?
I have finally heard from the National Office - Lars himself. We have permission to run the new elections. Huzzah!
As I am the interim Madame, I receive the added pleasure of creating this post.
I know most terms last 2 years, but due to some miscommunication last year, we decided to have a 1 year term until we could get all our ducks in a row.
So - to the rules.
As per Lars:
“Have your nominees post their intentions (CC to me...) and let's set a voting deadline that works for the Local. All votes will be e-mailed on or before that day to scribe@wench.org and I'll do all the tabulations”
What does this really mean:
We need people to submit nominations for Local Madame of 13 and for Lieutenant Madame.
The Vice Madame positions in Austin and in Houston are still appointed position unless whoever is the next LM decides to change that. The Dame, the Scribe and the Charity offices are all appointments as well. (If anyone wishes to step down from their appointments, please let me know privately. I can then talk with you about who you would feel make a good replacement and so forth.)
So, submit all nominations (And yes the question was raised – you may nominate yourself) for these 2 spots on the Local 13 site on www.wench.org and/or on the TXIWG yahoo group. Those who wish to accept the nomination, must post their platform (why they would be good at this) on the www.wench.org and the TXIWG yahoo group.
Next – time frame
Since this is the holidays, I suggest a long time frame. I say we give everyone until January 31st to submit nominations and platforms to Lars. That would then give us until February 15th to vote by. 15 days for voting sounds reasonable – right? This will give Lars enough time to tabulate the votes and everything be back in order before Scarby and the other faires kick up. If I have miscalculated the dates, please let me know.
If anyone has any questions, please e-mail me or pm me. You may also contact Lars with any questions about the elections for Local 13. Last time, we had difficulty communicating with everyone. I really don’t want that to happen again. Please spread the word and see how large we truly are.
