(or yule or hanukah, whatever...)
Do you ever have something that you gave to somebody that you instantly went "what was I THINKING?!" upon seeing the polite smile they gave you upon it's receipt?

I have given out Chia pets, although that really isn't that crazy.

I gave earings with french wire hooks to a friend who didn't have pierced ears. At the time she'd been my friend for 3 years.

I sent my sister's family a Lego Advent Calendar this year. Not an odd gift in and of itself, but her children are 15 and 21... way past the Lego stage! I hear they're enjoying it, even if my poor sister is Lego-ly challenged.

My ex brother-out-law was polish so I gave him socks that I had stiched up the top and opened the bottom. POLISH socks. He didn't find any humor in it.

Next you gotta find the Polish shoes to go with em. They have TGIF printed on the toe part.

My two cousins were asked what they wanted for Christmas. They were smart asses and said they wanted barbie dolls. So thats what my mom got them. They are much more careful now. She got them something else, for a serious gift, but they decided not to do that again.

This isn't a xmas gift we gave, but I seem to recall a particular rogue who had the initials " L" & "R" taped to the bottom of his shoes on his wedding day!

Talking Christmas Ornament with Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau singing "Thank Heaven for Little Girls."

Don't ask. AND it was appreciated!

As a joke I gave my boyfriend an inflatable love cow for a present a few years ago. It had a little noise box in it that made a little mooing sound if you turned it upside down. I inflated it and tucked into his bed when he wasn't home so he found it late at night as he was crawling into bed.

My brother has always been a great one for giving gifts with ... personality.
He also raises Bordeaux puppies ( think Turner and Hooch)
So I gave him a fleece hat with a giant bone sticking out either side.

He loved it!

My mom collects elephants and is a smoker - this was her christmas present this year.

I've given her elephant vibrator - g string for step dad and even a brass figurine of 2 elephants mating. The best was the toilet seat I painted for her for her birthday!

Every year there is a 'prize' to who ever gets the wackiest gift in my family. Its not a real contest, and Grandma and Grandad know nothing of it. They are usually the ones that give the gift. Its usually my sister who wins.
