And then...the bottom of the day...the boys take care of me, they bring me Diet Dr Pepper so I can have my caffeine fix...well one of their dad's tried to follow suit while he's helping us. He brought me CAFFEINE FREE!!! Oh there are going to be some bad days ahead if that doesn't get swapped out over the weekend.

Ok Ladies.. quick update..
Phee *HAS* arrived.. after having to quickly go to contingency plan B.. after she got a flat tire on the way here..
Both Rogue and Wench are happily snuggled in my kitchen.. both with grins that would light every major capitol city around the world.
Guess I earned my *wings* from the Almighty Eros ....
:haloslip:
:hearts:
BTW: THANK YOU.. to my co-conspirators who helped me pull off Plan B... one of which (ahem) just couldn't run away to his TARDIS fast enough - before I lured him into my lair of evil piratey deeds!!

As part of Strike Team Damascus, and responsible for distraction, misdirection and timely intervention.. you're quite welcome!
..as for the speed of my departure.. Well, let's see.. I was there for the surprise unveiling... the feather-fencing.. *and* for the ceremonial ritual sharing of the Toblerone.. (having brought it meself.. Heh, heh, heh... Funny how all the Wenches drifted in that direction, wasn't it?). It was only much later, after Squire Mike asked for our departure, to be home for bed.. that he & I pulled our "Alice in Wonderland" riff and "Softly and Silently Vanished Away.." (Unlike Phoe.. *my* TARDIS functions correctly!)
As if I needed to be "Lured"!
And the two Tall ones seemed quite happy.. Wasn't it Phoe herself who said the fencing bag o' doom needed a "... pair of trees"? I think I know of two tall trees now....
Help thyself to some wings, M'lady.. tonight you earned 'em...

Am I the only one who has had a bad day? I wasn't aware the using a spinning wheel was a dangerous contact sport. I think I would be safer learning to sword fight. Anyway, the damn wheel broke the connecting piece on the treadle again. I now have a fat lip becasue I was leaning over oiling it on the fly so to speak when the leather strap broke. And this wheel used to be so well behaved. SIgh. Any ideas of where in Oregon I could pick up sword fighting at?

YAY! The meeting finally took place. I hope a good time was had by all!
Sounds like a lot of us are having good things happen for a change:
Let's see, Mags has a good day with the washer coming.
Phee and Artos met.
Po did a swashbuckling good deed. Morghan has earned yet ANOTHER halo.
Branwen has a nice long weekend.
Brian's conjunctivitis must be getting better so he can see sweet lovable GF.
Appie got a spa treatment.
Sarah's sewing machine appears to be in good working order.
Ambar, get your picture back up there, girl!
I had a three contracts approved (I'm a Contract Administrator) that were in the makings for over two years, a contractor made a special-long trip to see me to thank me merely because I took two minutes to thank him for the work his company did on a major construction project, AND I was assigned the contract I've been wanting for a long time.
I am the proud owner of THE BEAVER CONTRACT. :D I've wanted that sucker for a long time, just so I can say, "I have the beaver contract." I always thought it should be owned by a woman. In the spring, we have to go out to the site and do a "Beaver Walk." Perhaps I can incorporate some of the Wench Walk into the Beaver Walk.

/me is a bit jealous of Phee and Artos........ Ahhhhhhhhhhh the feeling of that first face to face **ahem** meeting!!! I'm so glad everthing is going well.......at least AFTER the flat tire! Enjoy loves!!
My weekend started great.........went to the auction with my rogue, as we have taken to doing to fill up the new nest and the hours in the off season. We got a really nice oak dresser and TWO really old and REALLY cool steamer trunks, bringing our collection up to three. This is really fun!! We also got this odd cast iron statue of a fat guy..almost looks like W.C. Fields, with a big ol clock in his belly! It's SO awful it's great! I couldn't leave it there! If i knew how to do it I would post a pic of him here. Of course I had to take one as soon as we walked in the door!
Today I have to go watch my twin sons play basketball, NOT thier best sport but anyone that knows me, knows I am a totally supportive basketball, baseball, football, bandfront, chorus, chamber singers, scout mom!
Then tonight it's off to my middle sister's FORTIETH birthday party. It's become my job to convince her that 40 is NOT NOT NOT old........ It's the glorious beginning of the best part of her life! I can't decide on weather I should wear a bodice or my MILF shirt {yes my chris has an odd sense of what would be a funny xmas gift} to convince her! I think I should have maybe picked up a PARF season pass for her gift. THEN she would learn just how much fun life can be!
Hopefully....sunday will be rest and football! Oh.of course i need to catch the game today......one of my twins, Alex is a big jets fan....... so i am forced to cheer against the steelers........who actually will be winning the whole shebang this year IMHO!
Have a peaceful, joyous weekend everyone!

Actually, that was a walking wheel not a spinning wheel. :) No treadle. And the distaff is a dangerous item. That is what Sleeping Beauty actually pricked her finger on. I made friends with an ice pack. I look some what normal today. Still think sword fighting might be less hazardous. And certainly more fun at the moment. There is a certain man I would like to teach a lesson to.

WEll, actually Dede, the sewing machine is put up at the moment. the neice is here and my sewing room is actually her bedroom ~L~ but she's getting booted out tomorrow so I can at least finishe up the Boop bloomies and a chemise.
Ever have one of those days?
I had the alarm set to 530 so I could get a shower and be ready for the 830 meeting I had to attend this morning.. this is the same said meeting that was sprung on me Wednesday evening originally scheduled for 930... guess who slept through the alarm? :aok: not a major problem y'know, I can still get home at 1030, as the Chairwoman has a brunch to be at at 1030, leaving me plenty of time to shower and make it to the bank before my nail appointment...
at 1130 I had to leave the meeting or I'd never have made it to the bank and my car would have no gas... I was supposed to be as a Games Night starting at 2, but considering i didn't get home until 115 from getting my nails done and *still* hadn't managed a shower yet, I didn't leave the house untl 230 and had to stop to get gas on the way. The coffee at the gas station sucked, I wound up getting stuck behind every frellin' geriatric with a ilcense on the highway - and yes, this *would* have to be the weekend that this particular highway was being watched like a hawk by the law authorities... no Empress Drives Like a Demon this day...
But, the party was good, met a few new people in the area, found the local Chocolate God, had a few wenches and rogues worshipping my feet for my Baklava magic and got my ass kicked at playing Talisman. The headache is just now starting to fade. ;)
I'm off to bed. I'll need my whip and chair to beat the sewing machine into submission tomorrow...

I'm still here, Mags - travelling back and forth between websites.
We have three offers to stay with family, but you know how annoying that can be . . . . .
So we're looking for a cheap, clean hotel and trying not to upset anyone! It's hard planning around school holidays because it narrows the travel window a lot. Also, we are going to Calgary, and they have the Stampede there in the first and second weeks of July. Although it's lots of fun to Stampede (the whole city basically parties for two weeks) it's also an expensive time to go there. We're trying to catch the big parade and opening day, but avoid the main crowd rush. Yee haw! Stampede . . . .
Not particularly into the Western stuff, but when in Rome, er, Calgary. You can't beat free breakfasts for 14 days running, can you?

Yea, I finally decided to fess up to my real name... It might change again once I actually figure out my character for VTRF (http://www.vtrenfest.com).
I did find a couple of things, but I have SOOO far to go. I have at least, uncoverem my sewing maching, but I still have to clean a path to it. -sigh- It didn't help that Poppet decided to come up and 'help' me organize. She did this by bringing up some of her toys from downstairs, to watch me.
Now I am thinking about going over to my friend Amy's house. Poppet can go and play with her son, while she and I hang out. Hubby is going over to his parent's apt to watch the Pats game.

Bad weekend up here in Upstate NY. The snow melted and it rained which flooded the entire basement 12" high - we have NEVER experienced anything like that before. The furnace went, the washer machine died and the water heater is acting up too. So my hubby is buying a new furnance today. My poor little toy poodle is wrapped up in blankets and won't come out. We're burning alot of firewood. Alot of our neighbors have experienced the same thing. Wild.

Good Morning all. I actually signed up for overtime this week, so I am at work now instead of getting ready to leave for work. I'm a glutton for punishment. I signerd up for a total of 20 hours of overtime this week.
My shopping trip this weekend went well. I got new music to listen to, I bought some artwork from a gallery in Fredericksburg, a new Sterling Silver blue Lapis ring, 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of Mead. Had great company and awesome conversation. My POOR brother came home from work at 8:30a and then we left to go to Fredericksburg. He stayed up for a full 24 hours with us girls. I felt so bad for him. At least he was able to get some sleep on the way home and he went to bed around 8p.
I'm glad that everyone had a good weekend and are attempting to enjoy their time off today. I know house work is not timeoff, but timeoff from WORK is nice anytime of the week.

.. All Hail!
How was my weekend? Hmm.. OK.. After spending Thurs. home with Squire Mike (the younger of the two squires.. 8 years old...) - who was home with an ear infection.. Mike was fine Fri. eve to accompany me to the SCA event meeting.. (Morghan, Artos & Phoenix.. Heh.. heh.. heh....)
Fri. eve. Provided support and distraction for Phee's surprise... and also played "Feed the Wenches" with a *large* bar of Toblerone.. and then took up a feather when the feathers came out for fencing...
Sat.- Put on the Basketball Dad hat and attended gamesfor both squires..
Sun.- Dressed up and caught the closing matinee of Squire Eric (the elder squire- 11 years old) onstage in "Kids on Broadway".. Ok- here's a warning.. anyone who doesn't wan to encounter a paragraph of Doting Dad.. please skip the following italicized paragraph..
Ok.. I'm a theater-person.. Squire Eric is a FOURTH-Generation theater brat.. Broadway is literally in his blood.. I've performed with him in Shakespeare ("Scottish Tragedy")- Seen him in Beckett ("...Godot"), Williams ("Cat on.."), and even "Christmas Story".. and to sit there in the front row and watch him take the stage and perform the solo "Where is Love" from "Oliver"- bare-stage, with only a spotllight and a piano accompanying.. Well- I don't think I've ever had a prouder moment as a father... we're talking close to tears here... And then they opened act II with Eric as Peter Pan: "I Won't Grow Up"... We took him out to dinner afterwards.. and the evening just kept getting better... wow...
Monday: Although I *did* have to work, unlike some of you habitual bus-riders.. at least the day was made fun by one of my favorite publishing reps handing me a *bag* of interesting review galleys for upcoming books.. including Isabelle Allende's upcoming ZORRO...
And mere moments after I post this... I'm heading out for tonight's "Steel-Therapy" fencing practice... HUZZAH! (And we're fencing again tomorrow! double-huzzah!)

Okay, I have 1 hour and 53 minutes remaining in the work day. And to think I only have 4 more days like this to look forward to. I just keep telling myself that the paycheck will be well worth all of the pain. As is said NO pain, NO gain. I honestly think that phrase is about excessive Overtime. How many CD's can a person listen to in a 12 hour work day? So far I have listened to The Beatle's, AC/DC, Bette Midler, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, Def Leppard, The Who, The Doors. I think I'm going to go into the Swing part of my CD case & start listening to a little bit of Artie Shaw, and Glenn Miller. Will see if they will help me get through the evening.

HAZZAH!! On your son's performance Po.. I can completely understand those "proud parent" moments as I've had a few myself.. first when Monica was crowned "Little Miss Sumpter" .. then "Ms. Smokerise" twice running... and when she had her first ballet performance - I probably would have been in the front row crying myself - had I not been back stage - with tap shoes on... so YES, I can totally relate.. Again.. HUZZAH - on a job well done!! and please pass my Congrats - on to your family.
As for our "steel therapy" this eve'.. I can only give it an overall.. "WOW".. we "wire weenies" got more floor time than last week and I even got to play with a schlaeger for a while (although my new parry device never made it to the floor) .. and I even left pretty much - unscathed this week :)
Tomorrow night is another night of "steel therapy" and I'm already fully energized and ready to hit the dance floor..

Just be thankful I have not inundated you all with photos and digital recordings of the performance.. Heh, heh, heh..
*Introducing* them to the theater, M'lady? It was unavoidable.. the squires' mother acts, directs, sings, dances and choreographs... their Sheriff-dad acts, directs, designs, builds, sings and combat-choreographs... their maternal Grandfather designed sets and lights on Broadway, and their Great-grandmother was the original Broadway choreographer of "Camelot", "Kiss Me Kate", "My Fair Lady" and others...
Somewhere I have a photo- The eldest squire, his mom and I- as Lord and Lady Macduff, and young Macduff... -'twas an interesting production.
Other than scheduling conflicts, We've tried to give the squires every opportunity to try new things and to persue their interests.. Scouts, Basketball, Baseball, Theater, Gaming, Ren-faires, Music (Eldest Squire Eric is in his second year of Flute- his choice..) and more... (plus advanced classes in school...)
ok- enough braggin' bout the squires.. they're in bed- and so should I be too...

Morning all. How's tricks?
Lets see...relationships...topic..hmm. Well my daughter and I are bestest of friends. She is turning 21 next month and everyone is amazed that she is passing on their invites because she's going out with MOM! She was, and it kills me to use past tense...a top clarinetist once. She played in several orchestras and attended Interlochen. She was third best at camp (a camp of kids from 170 countries all over the world) before she decided she didn't like music and wanted to be in theater. So now she does plays and acts. Oh I am still proud of her every day... But oh how I miss the music that girl could make come out of that instrument. She would play Moonlight Serenade and sound just as good as Benny Goodman. She would play for senior citizens and they would be in tears remembering when they danced to that song with their honnies back in the day. I think that is a good thing. But she lost the desire to play and I only have memories and a very empty savings account. UGH, the money we spent on lessons, reeds, camps, travel! Oh well.

Sounds like a pretty normal sibling relationship. :)
My sister is 2 years younger than me, and when we were younger, she was the bane of my existance. Always tagging along and such. As we got older, yes, we would fight but we would share clothes, make up etc. Just didn't hang around together. Now that we are theoretical adults, we live 600 miles apart. However, when we get together (and can ditch the kids for a time) we go out and hang with her friends. Her friends are VERY similar to mine - guess we were more alike than we cared to admit

I'll second that! It's great to see siblings get along like that. My sisters and I "get along" all-right, but I get along with my Brothers-in-Law better. We go hiking, fishing and hunting together alot. Sisters don't quite understand the enjoyment of getting "dirty". Damn sissys!
I consider myself to be soooo very lucky! I have 3 best friends... My rogue, my mom, and my sister! My rogue & mom are both here in (8 degree weather) Louisville, but sadly, my sister hated it here and moved 1000 miles away back where the rest of my family is. I miss her more than words could say. She was a really good excuse to do young and stupid things and not to mention she shared the love of faires with me too. It's definitely not the same without her. :wah: I'm lucky if I get to see her once a year now...

All right, what's going on? Where is everyone? No pickle fignts, no innuendo, no flirting? What is this world coming to?
Yay, Thungar's back! You were missed.
I am an only child, so hung around with my cousin when I was a kid. She was seven years older, so she taught me cool stuff like the meaning of swear words, and made me a fake ID so I could go to bars with her. And all the time, my Dad thought it was SAFE for me to go out with her. The most memorable was when I had to go to a strip joint with her and her boyfriend . . . . .
A wonderful person showed me a magic way home from work tonight - no more traffic! :D And a beautiful parking/pull over spot on the banks of the Mohawk River. Very romantic place. Must remember to go there sometime!
Question and sort of rant - we've been watching the Phee and Artos show and basically watching love - or lust - bloom. How come we forget to have fun like that? How come we forget that feeling of needing to be with a special person, so much that it's a physical ache and longing? Does that have to be fleeting? How come we forget the comfort of simply sitting there together and feeling the warmth of someone else's body? Or that feeling of excitement because you're going to see a special person? And that wonderful period of falling in love and simply drowning in someone's eyes, and being happy just because you're in the same room. Sigh.

/me turns down the lights in the room to 'mood lighting'. Falling in love. Isn't that the best and scariest time in the world! A time when you imagine you and your new love, walking hand in hand down the beach. Having that little day dream blown to bit as he decidedly does not hold hands nor does he like the beach, thank you very much, but that's OK.
I think the entire 'rose colored glasses in love' time is fleeting because you are so willing to over look the other person's 'imperfections' because of that giddy light headed feeling. Things that in 6 months bother the hell out of you. However, I think that feeling does remain in a relationship, it just gets buried under life. Every once in a while, I will look at Jon and just get hit with a 'WOW! I love this man!' and be amazed by him all over again. Then, as usual, I will go and give him a big squeeze and kiss, and tell him how much I love him. He looks at me and calls me a sap. But he says it with a big smile :D Ah, love.....

Mags - Lyrics from Avenue Q, When you Ruv Someone (sung by Christmas Eve, Japanese immigrant):
The more you love someone, the more you want to kill 'em.
The more you love someone, the more he make you cry.
Though you are try for making peace with them and loving,
That's why you love so strong you like to make him die.
The more you love someone, the more he make you crazy.
The more you love someone, the more you're wishing him dead.
Sometime you look at him, and only see fat and lazy,
And wanting baseball bat for hitting him in the head.
The more you love someone, the more you want to kill 'em.
Loving and killing fit like hand in glove.
So if there are someone you are wanting so to kill 'em,
You go and find him,
And you get him,
And you NO kill him,
Cause chances are, he is your love.
That's it. I've done my part for romance tonight!

Lyrics from Avenue Q, When you Ruv Someone (sung by Christmas Eve, Japanese immigrant):
Okay that is not fair. I read the lyrics while listening to the "Flat Foot Floogie". The instamental part became the background music for "When you Ruv Someone" & everytime I got to Love my mind read "RUV" with a very thick Asian accent. I do telephone customer service for a bank, so I get all kinds of people calling in from all over the world with different accents. I LOVE listening to people from England, Ireland :hearts: :hearts: , and Scotland. You haven't heard anything until you get cussed out by a Irish Priest 'cause his account is overdrawn. It was a classic call. I couldn't belive that he used that type of language, but it sure did sound purty coming from him.

Hello dere Brudder. Getting cold in Texas, or to put it more correctly South Texas, is one thing. Getting cold or freezing and rain/sleet/frozen rain shuts down the City. Then again, if anyone spits on the road you can almost guarantee a 4 car pile up.
My Family & I have a fairly close relationship. There was a time in which I couldn't stand my parents. But, that was during my teens. I wa kicked out of the house a couple of times & I did "run" away from home after I got into College. I moved in with my Ex. What a waste of human flesh. I didn't want to listen to my parents (who were right), so I thought I was bigger by moving out without telling them about my decision. Good thing we patched everyting up, or I would have been homeless. My Mom is one of my BEST friends. There are times in which she just DRIVES me up the Freaking wall. But, she's a good egg none the less. I think the "difficulty" that we had when I was a kid helped pull the family together & prepare my parents for my Brother when he got to my age. Of course he got away with a LOT more than I did.

It's very quiet in here! Where's Phee?!!?!??!?! Where's my show?? Eh, off to Philly to hang with Ysobelle!
I believe they are working on my brother's car.. as yesterday he had some problems with it which sounded like the starter was shot.
Oh my! Did they get it fixed?!?!?!?

Oh my! Did they get it fixed?!?!?!?
Yes.. I believe they did - as I got the offline message that Artos was on his way home - and since I was at "steel therapy" this eve' - I'm guessing he went into work and I'll finally catch up with him - on the morrow.
I guess this means I'm going to have to finally get that string on my guitar fixed - and start composing again.. this time - something a little special for those two.. however - until such time as I can accomplish that - I hope the song lyrics from Cinderella (1965) will suffice...
"Do I love you because your beautiful?"
PRINCE
Do I love you because you're beautiful
Or are you beautiful because I love you?
Am I making believe I see in you
A girl too lovely to Be really true?
Do I want you because you're wonderful
Or are you wonderul because I want you?
Are you the sweet invention of a lover's dream
Or are you really as beautiful as you seem?
CINDERELLA
Am I making believe I see in you a man too
perfect to be really true?
Do I want you because you're wonderful, or
are you wonderful because I want you?
BOTH
Are you the sweet invention of a lover's
dream or are you really as wonderful as
you seem?
Amas Veritas - May the blessings of the Heavens in all their splendor be with you both!

GOOD MORNING! After a hellish night at work, I'm in a delightful mood this fine freezing morning, had a simply blissful, and extended even, weekend. The car is somewhat tempermental, as I didn't feel like paying the $200 autozone was asking for a starter, but seems to only be really cranky in the bitter-ass cold (like, oh, any day in NEPA)....Well, there's my very vague update for the day.

Ever notice how people from cold weather climates actually find flannel sexy?
Did someone say flannel!! Oh, now I'm all hot and bothered - said the chick from the Upper Penninsula of Mich.
~when I was in middle school, I remember school being cancled due to temps. The 'real temp.' was -30. With wind chills is was somewhere around 50 below zero. Now that's cold

Morning Everyone.............
Phee and Artos........... so glad the weekend was a success!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh the newness and passion are nearly palpable even just across the magical net! I'm truley happy for you.....
I am also FREEZING! and worried and frustrated and exhausted and depressed. You see, Chris and I spent most of yesterday in the ER and he wasn't "officially" working. Chelsea has been having pains in her lower abdomen/pelvic region and after being poked and prodded and ct scanned and ultrasounded and drained of what she believes is most of her blood.............. Still no reason for the pain. She's structually all together properly and all of the blood work was negative. This SHOULD make me happy.......but the kid is still in pain and there's nothing i can do to ease it. We are seeing a new gyno as a follow-up and hopefully she will have our answer!
New love/lust is wonderful.......... but to sit for hours and watch as the object of your affection goes to the utmost of his abilities and calls in all the favors he has stored up and tenderly tends to YOUR child with obvious love and concern..........well........that just puts you over the moon! I am in love with quite an amazing man.
Now i must venture out into the frigid PA morning and get my kidlets on the bus and take my dragging butt to work........ Man I am too tired to be of any use to anybody today!
I hope you all have a great day!!

Hmph... 'tis far too cold, and I had to get up far too early... -on the other hand, I still have "post-Steel-Therapy" glow in my system, for the second time this week.. so who am I to complain? :D
Artos & Phoenix have *finally* surfaced? HUZZAH! (and Heh, heh, heh... ) I was beginning to think we'd have to send in a St. Bernard with provisions.....
Ok- 'afore I send thee all on thy ways today, and head out to the bookshop.. I'll toss a song out into the arena as well... (Hmm... How about some Blackmore's Night? It's on-topic [romantic] as well as semi-period....])
All Because Of You
Is this happening? Is this fantasy?
Never did I believe
There could be such happiness
Feels like nothing on earth
Started with one little kiss…
I could stay in this moment forever
I could reach every star in the sky
I could lose myself when I look
Into your eyes…
Is this happening? Is this fantasy?
All my dreams coming true…
…all because of you
I can't believe its true…
…all because of you….
You are everything I
Wanted for so many years…
Goodbye long, lonely nights
Sadness and thousands of tears
I could stay in this moment forever
I could reach every star in the sky
I could lose myself when I look
Into your eyes…
Is this happening? Is this fantasy?
All my dreams coming true…All because of you
I can't believe it's true…all because of you…

Oh GEEEEZ Ria! I'm so sorry for you all. I hope Chelsea is feeling better now! Give her a tender hug from me, and yourself, too. Is there any more helpless feeling in the world than watching your child in pain and you Can't Stop It? Thank whatever deity you choose that Chris knows his stuff, and all the tests came back negative. That's quite a man you have there. Again, best wishes to you all, warm hugs, and healing thoughts.
Morghan - oh those lyrics are beautiful! *sniffle* I didn't know you composed as well - must be a family trait, as Artos shared one of his original pieces with me & the Mini's yesterday. (Music, people... MUSICAL pieces...) Darn those pesky G-strings, anyway - always breaking at the inopportune moments! :)
Yes - for all those daily viewers of the Show.. (and if ya don't care, please feel free to skip this part.. and if you do read it... Warning: Mushy Schtuff Ahead) The weekend went better than even my outlandish & over-the-top imaginings & expectations. This Rogue, my Artos... he is truly as he appears on this board.. even more so. He is kind, generous, considerate, intelligent, playful, funny, protective, responsible, chivalrous-but-not-patronizing, musically talented, helpful, willing to compromise, energetic, open & honest... oh I could go on, but I believe I may have already caused him to turn 10 different shades of red. "Amas Veritas" indeed, dear sister. He likes holding hands, he was willing to come dancing with me, even though he was dead tired....he played games with and paid attention to the Mini's joyfully...in short, words alone cannot express how wonderful and lovely he is. Oh yes - and the avatar doesn't do him justice... Yummy!
So, for anyone who was interested - Yes there is quite a lot of 'substance' to go with the 'flourish'. Perfection, at least in MY eyes. I had been searching for him for years, never believing he existed. Now the only thing left to do is deal with this pesky distance thing. :)
So, get out your forks, I'm done. Happily so. Now I just have to hope I didn't embarass him too much. :D
Thank you Morghan, Dear Sheriff Po, and all the rest who made the surprise a success... it was well worth all the hassles of the flat tire and the rescue to have that expression on his face in my memory!
:grouphug: So for everyone who has let their own swoony feelings get pushed aside or buried over the years, let these above paragraphs give you the motivation to take em out, dust em off, and truly appreciate the special person who makes your heart sing. Life is not a dress rehearsal, you only get one go-round. And I'm not squandering this chance, this blessing that I have been given.
OK Mushy Schtuff Over... at least for now.
So... how is everyone (at least the Easterners) handling this frigid weather? Brrrrrrrr its 10 degrees, and wind-chill of 3 below. Yeah Mags, I know it ain't 50 below, but its durn close enough. Anything below Zero is Farkin COLD.
PngwnMama - sorry we missed you yesterday - we braved the Mall, hoping to see you. I forgot about your screwey schedule this week. But we did see Kat:) And I got a great calendar - "Wild Words from Wild Women" Today's quote is "I've made so many movies playing a hooker that they don't pay me in the regular way anymore. They leave it on the dresser." -Shirley MacLaine
Hugs everyone! Let's get this bus a-rollin'!!! (or at least a-rockin')

Po - Beautiful song!!! Here's another, more modern, but lovely just the same. By The Corrs. "At Your Side"
When the daylight's gone
And you're on your own
And you need a friend
Just to be around
I will comfort you
I will take your hand
And I'll pull you through
I will understand
(Cuz you know that)
I'll be at your side
There's no need to worry
Together we'll survive
Thru the haste & hurry
I'll be at your side
When you feel like you're alone
And there's nowhere to turn
I;ll be at your side
If you're standing still
And your soul's confused
And you cannot find
What road to choose
If you make mistakes
You won't let me down
I will still believe
I will turn around
(And you know that)
*Chorus*
Ahh - I do so love the Corrs.. their songs speak to me.

Hey listen I'm just as mushy as the next guy... As for songs there are many that.. get to me... two right off the top of my head are from TSO off their Beethoven's Last Night CD. Both get me all choked up...
Both are sung by Theresa, the woman who Beethoven pushed away because he felt she was to good for a cripple like him.
I'LL KEEP YOUR SECRETS
( THERESA )
LOST IN YOUR DARK
I SEE YOU THERE
WHAT DO YOU SEE BEYOND YOUR STARE
AND YOU BELIEVE THAT NO ONE ELSE CAN KNOW
WHAT IS THIS THING YOU KEEP INSIDE
OUT OF THE LIGHT AND WRAPPED IN PRIDE
ALWAYS AFRAID THAT ONE DAY IT WILL SHOW
I'LL KEEP YOUR SECRETS
I'LL HOLD YOUR GROUND
AND WHEN THE DARKNESS STARTS TO FALL
I'LL BE AROUND THERE WAITING
WHEN DREAMS ARE FADING
AND FRIENDS ARE DISTANT AND FEW
KNOW AT THAT MOMENT I'LL BE THERE WITH YOU
WHAT ARE THESE VOICES THAT YOU HEAR
ARE THEY TOO FAR OR FAR TOO NEAR
WHAT ARE THESE THINGS THAT ECHO FROM THE PAST
WHO ARE THESE GHOSTS YOU SEE AT NIGHT
THERE IN THE SHADOWS OF YOUR LIFE
THEY ONLY LIVE BY THE LIGHT YOU CAST
I'LL KEEP YOUR SECRETS
I'LL HOLD YOUR GROUND
AND WHEN THE DARKNESS STARTS TO FALL
I'LL BE AROUND THERE WAITING
WHEN DREAMS ARE FADING
AND FRIENDS ARE DISTANT AND FEW
KNOW AT THAT MOMENT I'LL BE THERE WITH YOU
I'LL BE AROUND
WHEN THERE'S NO REASON LEFT TO CARRY ON
AND EVERY DREAM YOU'VE EVER HAD IS GONE
AND THE DARK IS DEEP AND BLACK WITHOUT A SOUND
AND EVERY STAR HAS BEEN DRAGGED TO THE GROUND
KNOW AT THAT MOMENT I WILL BE AROUND
KNOW AT THAT MOMENT I WILL BE AROUND
Dmitri
01-19-2005, 08:44 AM
and two:
AFTER THE FALL
( THERESA )
TIME
ONLY TIME
COULD NEVER TAKE ME AWAY FROM YOU
AND WHY
SHOULD IT TRY
TIME NEVER CARES JUST WHAT WE DO
IT JUST SITS ON A STAR
AND GAZES DOWN
DROPPING ITS MOMENTS ALL AROUND
AND IF I COULD WISH UPON THAT STAR
I WOULD FIND WHAT YOU DREAM
AND THEN ASK GOD TO GRANT IT
I WANTED
TO SAY THIS
LONG BEFORE THIS DARK WOULD FALL
AT NIGHT I
WOULD PRAY THIS
THEN WONDER IF GOD HEARD AT ALL
FOR THE CHANCES I'VE HAD ARE NOW LONG GONE
AND THAT STAR IS NO LONGER WISHED UPON
FOR ON THIS NIGHT IT SEEMS TOO FAR AWAY
TRY
I HAVE TRIED
TO PRETEND THAT I DON'T CARE
BUT THEN
SLEEP ARRIVES
AND IN EVERY DREAM I FIND YOU THERE
BUT I DON'T WANT THE PAST TO BE MY LIFE
AND I DON'T WANT TO LIVE INSIDE THE NIGHT
BUT I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR SHADOW FADE
SO I SLEEP AND I DREAM
THOUGH I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT
I WANTED
TO SAY THIS
LONG BEFORE THIS DARK WOULD FALL
AT NIGHT I
WOULD PRAY THIS
THEN WONDER IF GOD HEARD AT ALL
FOR THE CHANCES I'VE HAD ARE NOW LONG GONE
AND THAT STAR IS NO LONGER WISHED UPON
FOR ON THIS NIGHT IT SEEMS TOO FAR AWAY
YOU CAN LIVE YOUR LIFE IN A THOUSAND WAYS
BUT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THAT SINGLE DAY
WHEN YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU REGRET
WHAT YOU CAN'T RECLAIM BUT YOU CAN'T FORGET
IF I COULD JUST FALL BACK INTO MY LIFE
AND FIND YOU THERE INSIDE THIS NIGHT
AND LET ETERNITY JUST DRIFT AWAY

Well the first one Vel sang to me once... I had told her one time, before we were together that a woman who feels that way is one that you marry... here's another that's quite poignant the same writers different band, Savatage, whom TSO grew from.
Believe
Written by Jon Oliva, Criss Oliva, Paul O'Neill
So after all these one night stands
You've ended up with heart in hand
A child alone
On your own
Retreating
Regretful for the things you're not
And all dreams you haven't got
Without a home
A heart of stone
Lies bleeding
And for all the roads you followed
And for all you did not find
And for all the things you had to leave behind
I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
All I ask of you
Believe
Your childhood eyes were so intense
While bartering your innocence
For bits of string
Grown-up wings
You needed
But when you had to add them up
You found that they were not enough
To get you in
Pay for sins repeated
And for all the years you borrowed
And for all the tears you cried
And for all the fears you had to keep inside
I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
And all I ask of you is
Believe
I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time
Till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the person I am
Are the parts that I play
So I plot and I plan
Hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can't pay
I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
And all I ask of you is
Believe
Believe

Well, now that I have FINALLY made it in to work...... /me starts grumbling about Michigan drivers who don't know how to drive in snow.
Ria, I hope you and your daughter find your answers. My thoughts are with you.
:smooch:
Back to the lyrics that Dedeley posted: how true is that. Jon can piss me off more than anyone I know (and vice versa, I am sure). However, there is no one I would rather spend my life with. We have often joked that we had to marry each other, because no one else would put up with us.

Here's my mushy love song:
Artist: Depeche Mode
Album: Catching Up With Depeche Mode
Title: Somebody
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When i want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Aaaahhhhh....
I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things i detest
I will almost like
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
But when i'm asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I'll get away with it
Aaaahhhhh....
~feeling all warm and cozy now

Wow we're all in a song mood today - and Thanks Mags - that's a fave of mine too.
Here's another Corrs one - "All the Love in the World"
I'm not looking for someone to talk to
I've got my friends, I'm more than OK
I've got more than a girl could wish for
I live my dreams, but its not all they say
Still I believe
I'm missing something real
I need someone who really sees me
Don't wanna wake up alone anymore
Still believing you'll walk thru my door
All I need is to know its for sure
Then I'll give....
All the love in the world
I've often wondered if love's an illusion
Just to get you thru the lonliest days
I can't really size it, I had no hesitation
My imagination just stole me away
Still I believe
I'm missing something real
I need someone who really knows me
*chorus*
Love for a lifetime
Not for a moment
So how could I throw it away
I'm only human
And nights grow colder
With no one to love me that way
Yea I need someone who really sees me!
Then I won't wake up alone anymore
Still believing yo'll walk thru my door
You'll reach for me and I'll know its for sure
And I'll give....
All the love in the world
OK Maybe it isn't the most romantic, but its hopeful - and love is hope, after all.

Feh.. mushy songs...
No clue why, but I love hearing this song every year at Christmas. It's been, in my opinion, one of the most romantic I've heard - and it's not mushy or saccharine.
God forbid we should have some of either, right?
"All I Want For Christmas Is You"
Vince Vance & The Valiants
Take back the holly and mistletoe
Silver bells on strings
If I wrote a letter to Santa Claus
I would ask for just one thing
I don't need sleigh rides in the snow
Don't wanna a Christmas that's blue
Take back the tinsel, stockings, and bows
Cause all I want for Christmas is you
I don't need expensive things, they don't matter to me
All that I want can't be found underneath the Christmas tree
You are the angel that tops my tree
You are my dream come true
Santa can't bring me what I need
Cause all I want for Christmas is you
I don't need expensive things, they don't matter to me
All that I want can't be found underneath the Christmas tree
You are the angel that tops my tree
You are my dream come true
Santa can't bring me what I need
Cause all I want for Christmas is you
Cause all I want for Christmas is you

So, a complete aside to mushy songs...
I just read DB's post on "New Investmetn Opportunities" (laughed my skirt off too, BTW). For Christmas my in-laws gave me a gift card to Victoria's Secret - waaa hooo! So, one weekend, my Mother-in-law asks if I had the chace to spend it yet. Nope, I tell her, not really. Just had the chance to run in, pick up some undies.
Oh, says Sondra, maybe I could watch Erin for a bit and then you could go shopping. Great thought, except for one thing. What I am going to buy at VS now, I definatly don't want my mother-in-law to see, and I know that if she watches Erin and I walk in with shopping bags, she's gonna want to see what I bought.
Thank heavens for on line shopping and lunch hour runs to the mall!!

Mushy lyrics...... (oddly, I'm starting to enjoy bluegrass in my old age) ......
Artist/Band: Krauss Alison
Lyrics for Song: When You Say Nothing At All
Lyrics for Album: Now That I've Found You. A Collection
It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Now you say it best, when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near you drown out the crowd
Old Mister Webster could never define
What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Now you say it best, when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall
Now you say it best, when you say nothing at all

Ok since we're being sappy (and I am often not that!) I saw "Phantom" yesterday and this one touched me:
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
Little Lotte thought of everything and nothing.
Her father promised her that he would send her the Angel of Music.
Her father promised her...
her father promised her...
You were once my one companion,
you were all that mattered.
You were once a friend and father,
then my world was shattered.
Wishing you were somehow here again,
wishing you were somehow near.
Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed,
somehow you would be here.
Wishing I could hear your voice again,
knowing that I never would.
Dreaming of you won't help me to do,
all that you dreamed I could!
Passing bells and sculpted angels,
cold and monumental.
Seem, for you, the wrong companions,
you were warm and gentle.
Too many years fighting back tears,
why can't the past just die!
Wishing you were somehow here again,
knowing we must say goodbye!
Try to forgive, teach me to live!
Give me the strength to try!
No more memories, no more silent tears!
No more gazing across the wasted years!
Help me say goodbye...
help me say goodbye!

Ooh Ambar - Morghan played that one for us when I was there Friday night... by a different artist though - I can handle it better than Alison Krauss' squeak. Mmmmmmmmmm yes... lovely, wonderful song......

Absolutely loved it! Definitely better than other screen productions I have seen. Gerard Butler is a very sexy Phantom, deformities and all. And the costuming, wow! I have the soundtrack for the movie and the stage production and go back and forth between the two!

TSO's Christmas Eve Sarajevo are my FAVORITE Christmas songs...
Which first appeared on the 1995 Savatage release 'Dead Winter Dead". Then was resurected for the 1996 TSO release of Christmas Eve and Other Stories. TSO is basically Savatage with and orchestra. Same song writing/composing team, O'Neil & Oliva, with Kinkel thrown in...

Also, here's a Brian Wilson song I don't think too many people know about:
Still I Dream of It
Time for supper now
Day's been hard and I'm so tired
I feel like eating now
Smell the kitchen now
Hear the maid whistle a tune
My thoughts are fleeting now
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above
Young and beautiful
Like a tree that's just been planted
I found life today
I made mistakes today
Will I ever learn the lessons
That all come my way
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above
A little while ago
My mother told me
Jesus loved the world
And if that's true then
Why hasn't he helped me to find a girl
And find my world
'Til then I'm just a dreamer
I'm convinced of it
The hypnosis of our minds can take us far away
It's so easy now
You see someone up there high
And heaven's here to stay
Still I dream of it
Of that happy day
When I can say I've fallen in love
And it haunts me so
Like a dream that's
Somehow linked to all the stars above

I'm still trying to stay warm up here (Upstate Wallkill NY). Still don't have heat (ruined furnace due to minor flood), but we do have electric heaters and the fireplace going. The water heater finally blew a gasket yesterday, hubby fixed it then water froze last night. Hubby put a heater in the basement and now the water is running. The new furnace, of course, is on backorder. Also Hubby burned a hole in kitchen floor by putting smoldering ashes from the fireplace into a plastic wastebasket. We don't even have the house on the market, but with all the real estate action up here, I'm not surprise about the offer. Funny it happens right now while the house is basically falling apart, but I guess the person won't want to purchase the house in it's current condition. OK, I'm going to thread-jack BACK to the mushy songs - 'cause I can here.
Music of the Night - Phantom of the Opera - one of my lifetime fantasies has always been to make love to that song. "Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind." Does it get ANY better than that??
How about Silent Lucidity?
Phee and Artos - good for you! I'm glad it worked out. You never know when it's going to hit you.
And yes, it was this thread that led to the happiness. Despite everything - so it was worth it, no?
For those who want a Rogue - I truly believe that there is someone out there for everyone, maybe even right under your nose. Sometimes we have to open up our minds to the possibilities. On the other hand, talking dirty to guys seems to work pretty well, too.

A friend went through a bad experience today with the head-games, and I feel like a piece of crap because I can't do anything except sit there and empathize. It sucks. So can I request some hugs for people who have to put up with a crummy work situation? I know you guys will all send warm thoughts, light candles, etc. A couple of pins in a voodoo doll might help, too. Choose your own target and pin location!

You want mushy?? Well why didn't ya say so in the first place!? ;-)
The following is by Yes and it's called Sweetness. Have I mentioned how much I love Jon Anderson? (swoon!)
She brings the sunshine to a rainy afternoon;
She puts the sweetness in, stirs it with a spoon.
She watches for my moods, never brings me down;
She puts the sweetness in, all around.
She knows just what to say to make me feel so good inside.
And when I'm all alone I feel I don't want to hide.
Today she brought me in, told me where she'd been;
She put my mind at rest, put the sweetness in.
I'll ask her for some time to go and look around;
She puts the sweetness in with a sound.
She knows just what to say to make a sunny day.
And when I'm all alone I really don't feel that way.
Tell me, how would you feel with no world of your own and nobody to
hold?
I just can't see the way; I'm so glad it's today and you're here, you're here.
She brings the sunshine to a rainy afternoon;
She puts the sweetness in, stirs it with a spoon.
She watches for my moods, never brings me down;
She puts the sweetness in, all around.
She knows just what to say to make me feel so good inside.
And when I'm all alone I really don't feel that way.
Oh how I need her so, I know she'll never go.
She'll never leave me, believe me, no.
She'll never go

Hmm.. a bit of everything.. it's a whole musical (as the title would indicate..)
Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds.... the incredible Richard Burton plays the Narrator, with Moody Blues Justin Haywards on guitar.. and a full cast do the entire HG Wells classic as a musical. I must have worn out 3 Vinyl LPs between '76 and '88.. and I'm on my *second* 2 CD set.. (recently digitally remastered with extra tracks..) Some long slow ballads.. some faster... full orchestration with electric harpsichord... A love story (or two), some action.. something for everyone...
Here's one link to the full lyrics and script... and even some sound-bites (but there must be hundreds of sites devoted to this project, so I'm sure you'd be able to hear more before committing cash...... http://members.aol.com/skyyeyes/jwwow.htm

Way to go Sarah!! :) *hugglez* How are ya luv??? I feel like I haven't talked to you in a while... lol. Oh...BTW, I'm STILL working on altering the doublet :irked:
I'm... here. it's one of those days.
Ap, bite me, you know I like it when you do that.
Phee, c'mon down. You'll have to share the bunk space with the sewing machine and my fabric stash which mysteriously exploded all over the spare room last night in my hunt for the burgundy fabric... And I'll get that Coca-Cola fabric to you as soon as I can. I've got several mailings that have to go out, so I'll send it then.
AM, you know you're gonna get dragged into any 'fight' between us, right? No use hiding in a corner.

Uhm.. Sawah-love... it was the ghosties, not the Coke. Unless you were able to alter them to fit correctly?
Mommy, you're here - we see you. This thread has that trouble. It takes sometimes up to 5 posts for the new page to show. Just hit 'reply' and scroll thru em. Oh yeah - and allow it to run through to show your post before you hit 'back' or 'refresh'. That's what I do, anyway - seems to work, even if it is a tad hassle-ish.
Heeeeeeeere Kibbey Kibbey Kibbey... /me dangles NON-sparkley string, watching warily for Sawah & her Talons of Death.

One has GOT to love South Texas weather. First it droops down to the 20's and then less than a weeks time it jumps up to the 70's. Here in San Antonio we are expecting sunny skies, with temps in the low to mid 70's. Spring & Fall are the best. Summer is a completly different story however.

/me stands at closed door, wincing, listening to Inner Blonde screams emanating from within.
Yipe! Sheesh I'm glad I'm on her *good* side.

On the thread thing..........ladies, take a look at the line where it says www.wench.org/forums/ and all that other stuff.......... see the number at the end? That's the post the page should start with. Just change that number up by 5 or 10 and you'll see everything.........

OK Babies............ They are predicting a winter storm to hit my area this weekend..... your assignment for this evening is to point out one GOOD thing about winter weather and help me get through it!!
MY favorite thing about a good snow storm..........on a weekend...........is the excuse to ford up in the house with my bubby! I am kinda looking forward to being housebound for the weekend!!
/me dreams about naked scrabble and hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream!!!
going to the grocery store to stock up on goodies for the snowy weekend!!
Lady Sarah

ohhh ambar, I"ve got a baklava that will melt in your mouth... guaranteed to add inches to your hips!
and I'm with you Ria. hot chocolate on a cold winter's night. Hmmmm... I see a Chantico in my future this weekend!
One good thing about winter? You already mentioned it in less words: curling up under a blanket, either on the sofa or in a bed or something such, with the SO and either tea or hot chocolate, whiling the day or night away...
