We have added Karma to the forums - please understand this is meant to be FUN!
In any given post, under the user's name (and rank) you will see the word "Karma". Next to that you will see their karma rating, and a + and - sign. Give karma to people by clicking on the +, or take it away by clicking on the -. I have only tested this slightly, since I didn't want to mess anything up - but feel free to play.

Snipe,
Guess I am looking for a point of clarification on the new Karma system. I assume that if I am happy with someone or what they have said, I click on the +. If I am unhappy, I click on the -
Does the Karma rating serve any other function?
Also, say Wench A and Wench B do not like each other or have very differing view points and clash on every subject. Is there something in place to stop Wench A from clicking the - button more than once? Same question for the + button. I would just be concerned that the karma could become some sort of popularity contest or a way of 'getting back' at someone.
Off for that second cup of coffee now

The karma systems serves NO other function :) Its simply there to be fun.
When assigning karma, you shouldn't just give someone karma because you like them - you give them karma because they posted a really helpful post, etc. Same goes for assigning bad karma.
I do not currently have a cap on how frequently you can add or remove karma - however if it looks like its getting out of hand, I will do so.
The important things to remember are that:
1) This is supposed to be FUN
2) This *is* just a message board - so don't let good or bad karma go to your head ;)
Webmistress! You rock! The site is looking great and I love the karma rating thingy! The actions will be kinda cute too! I was an IRC nerd once too... ;)
Thanks again! You're doing a wonderful job on everything!

Yes, but everytime I look at it, I have to repress the urge to start singing 'Karma Chameleon' by Culture Club
Thanks Snipe for the clarification! I appreciate it.

Okie dokie...... Was hoping I wouldn't have to do this, but I have removed the negative karma displays. A few people were dismayed to find negative karma on them already, and rather than deal with any of that, its a non-issue now. :)
Yeah, thats a bummer....BUT I guess taking something negative from the boards may be a good idea! :) I kinda thought it might stir bad things up again too...
Sorry it didn't work out dear! Thanks for fixing it though! Positive reinforcement! :)
Serouisly, there was already negative kharma?
I logged on at 11:30 or so and there was only positive kharma, and that was becasue people were already abusing this system?
And I was worried about people feeling ostrisized because they little to none, but to give negative?
Wow, just wow...

Making a big deal out of the fact that there was already negative karma will only serve to further whatever feelings of ill-will and unresolved issues that remove the negative karma was intended to alleviate.

I also like the fact you can not click on your own, to make it larger, I'd hate to see it turn into a thing like the lips :)

Who am I to talk? I don't have any, but when I agree with what someone has posted I give them a point.

Actually, when I saw the subject, the first thing I thought of was Karma the cat in the Faire Folk novels! :meow:

That's exactly what I thought they were there for when I saw them! What a fabulous idea! Now, you have the choice of just clicking a Karma, instead of posting that you agree with a statement.
Kudos to the WM!! You ROCK!

As I type this, Snipe's karma rating is at +69. Kind of fitting, no? :D

My tape measure shows 5'5" but I could be reading it wrong, seeing as I haven't had much for coffee yet.
:smooch: Thank you for the karma hun. I gave you some this morning, across the boards, here and there.
-snuggles into her blankie- I would LOVE to feel better.
