I belong the the YMCA. Despite not being a Man or Christian I feel quite welcome there. They have good equipment, a pool and spa, lots of classes and free "wellness coaches" (personal trainer). All I need now is to visit more often!

I belong to FitZone for women. I've been so good, I've been going 5 days a week. I'm so proud of myself. Good job gals!!!

I have found myself a gym buddy. Once my head is under control (as my migraines have been flaring up again), I will be going to be meetig her for work out dates. I ahve a feeling I should get her into the guild as well!

There's an all-women's gym a few blocks from my home. I considered joining, but....

When I walked in to ask about rates and prices, the first thing I saw ws the hair salon and cosmetics section. I had to walk through that to get to the gym desk. These people are interested in my fitness? It didn't look like it!!

Then when I asked about prices, they told me they needed to give me the whole tour before they could even talk to me about costs. It felt like a hard-sell, so I told them I didn't have time for the tour that day.

FWIW, my mom joined that gym and likes it, so it may just be me and gyms.

Instead, I had a friend take me to Play It Again Sports, and hook me up with a set of dumbells (the kind with plates, not the kind with vinyl coating). I've been learning about freeweights, and since I work well independently anyway, I just set up a workout plan for a couple of months at a time, and pump iron 3 times a week (usually while watching Law and Order reruns).

For cardio, I walk to work, weather permitting, and fence 2-3 times a week.

BTW, belly-dancing DVDs are way cool.
