..thats 40 cloves of garlic. It's a classic dish, one that I have not made but want to try. I've seen it described using whole and cut chickens....anyone here ever tried either way?

This was just on Good Eats with Alton Brown this morning.

He used a cut chicken (8 parts), 40 cloves of garlic, 1/2C EVOO, fresh thyme and salt and pepper.

He browned the chicken, added the garlic, oil, thyme and S&P then put it in the oven for 90 minutes at 350 degrees.

Does that help at all??

I have a recipe for it made in a slow cooker with a cut up chicken. I made it with chicken breasts and it was delicious.

I cooked it the Alton Brown method...it ALWAYS turns out delicious, and I never have any left over when I make it for people. :(

I made AB's recipe too.

It. was. DIVINE.

I'm wanting to try it in a crock pot, now that someone mentioned it! YUM!

My former roommate and I made this a while back for Halloween (to keep the vampires away!).

We used boneless skinless chicken (just got the same amt as a whole chicken) and it's really wonderfull with a crusty loaf of bread to squoosh the garlic onto. We added some green salad, wine, and cheese to make it a party!

I've made it with the whole chicken, roasted in the oven. It's a favorite!

Could someone post the slow cooker or oven recipe? Pretty please? The hubby (still adapting to that word, LOL) and I both love garlic! Thank you!
