Quoth Lady Margaret:Thanks Po - you Wily Wench you! Wink
Looks as if you had a nice day for the parade...
in his best "Carol Cleveland as the witch" voice
"I'm not a Wench.. I'm *Not* a wench"... ( Ok.. we *did* do the nose.. and the hat... )
Yes.. we had lovely weather, unexpectedly.. the castle float was filled with cloaks that people were too warm to wear... We had bright sunshine, wonderful *dance partners*, anda very nice crowd along most of the route (which made for some fun games... Anytime I needed a break from fencing I would wander to the roadside and rogue some poor unsuspecting parade-viewer.. only to be "dragged" back by the other fencers...)
Three miles of sheer lunacy! I loved it. (I'm sorry we won't be fencing at the W-B parade today... Just swaggering in garb...)
Have a great Sunday!

Enjoy. Just make sure you get all the packing beans off the boys. They tend to stick in a few spots. And some settling may have occured during shipping. You'll want to correct that.
Ohhhhhh Katieeeeee ........
Gah! (THUNK!)

St. Pat's parades/pubs/parties in Chicago was a blast. The river is really green! I won a 50 dollar gift certificate to Uno Pizzaria (I fail to see the Irish connection for that) for having the most shamrocks on. I beat out some girlie girl because I have one more that her! They had all of us on the stage and we were comparing shamrocks aka the scars scene in Jaws. When you got one upped you had to leave the stage. It came down to earrings and stickers and painted ones and clothing. When she ran out of beads, I still had my tattoo. What a blast. Good thing I didn't have to unveil the underwear. But I am sick of green for awhile. HA. Oh and Devon won Ms. Elgin Sunburst 2005. We had tons to celebrate.

Thanks Booksie, thanks Bike. ~S~
I dunno what went wrong... if anything. This man chased me down in the Scottish Village, practically interrogated me about where he might ahve seen me before, then asked me to remember to stop by the shop at Scarby... then, as we were leaving, he, again, chased me down across the pond no less, and held my cohorts up while he dropped all these hints about how he'd never seen anyone as beautiful, I had a heart stopping smile, asked me if I like German food, etc... we talk for an hour the next day, then nothing.
~shrug~ his loss. I need to find me my own "James Hook"
snags a few of the caramels from Maria's Godiva box and kicks back to watch Peter Pan...
fuckin' croc... change my name to JM Barrie and rewrite the story so that Pan is the one eaten...

Now THAT seems as good a way to spend the day as any.
fuckin' croc... change my name to JM Barrie and rewrite the story so that Pan is the one eaten...
Did you know that Great Ormond Street Hospital has chosen an author to write the sequel to Peter Pan?
It's a woman Name Geraldine McCaughrean, a childrens author.
I'm stuck between hopeful that because she's a woman, she will understand the allure of our Dear Captn. Jas, but scared that since she's a children's writer, she'll Fop him all up in the process. The LAST thing we need is a version of Hook like the one Dustin Hoffman was made to play. Ech.
And, BikerL don't worry too much about what the sea's doing to your mind. I'm sure you're not the only one to think about it that way. And I'm also sure it was that dirty before you cast away.
And besides, maybe that's the way the story's told at the Neverland Ranch.
Ooch...Anybody got a SPORK I can borrow?

Whew...
I am officially *paraded OUT* for a year. Done my quota (MORE than my quota, actually.)
It was fun. Great company, lot's o' banter.. some very enjoyable swashbuckling.. we lucked out weatherwise... all in all- a wonderful weekend.
(and I've had a good night's sleep, I'm not feelin' the 48 hour bataan death march exertion... and I'm even looking forward to Steel-Therapy this evening...)
I just wanna see the televised footage from Sat. and the homemade camera footage from Sun. (& I'm sorry our camerawench couldn't catch me Rogueing random parade-viewers on Sat.... )
Welcome to Monday... Beware the Ides of March!
(Actually that non-gentleman who dismayed our Lady Sarah? *HE* should beware the Ides of March... We habitual residents of the fluffy & funny threads (sorry- couldn't manage to go with the obvious joke here at this hour- e'en on autopilot)- we regulars don't take well to seeing that sort o' behavior... His Karma will catch up to him... (one would hope sooner than later... [Hear that Eris? Eros?]) )
Hmm.. I seem to need MORE tea already...

Today I hope for a nice quiet day of recovery while resting some extremely sore muscles - so I can hopefully make it out onto the dance floor for *steel therapy* this eve (with Ice Dragon this weekend and my attempting for a 'case' authorization - cannot pass up any opportunity to get the floor time in) - plus there's Cinderella auditions which I've planned on going out for, but have a few 2nd thoughts of late - because I have no blasted idea of what kind of song I can do (with a piano) to some degree of neophyte adequacy .. but, we'll see <grumble, grumble, grumble>
Anyway... enjoy the contentential breakfast... :D :grouphug:

Booksie, I'll take that mind spork now... urgh, MJ can just shuffle off in his MC Hammer PJs to his spot under the jail any time now. I'm just sick to death of seeing that freak in the news.
and NO MORE HOOK A LA HOFFMAN!!! that was just wrong on too many different levels. I gave Disney a lot of leeway because, it's a kid's movie! But really, anyone who's got Cheese for brains knows that Peter Pan isn't about the nasty little boy, it's REALLY about the good Cap'n and how he struggles valiantly against the little brat. :stunned: I'm biased. Yes, I know this and I'm OK with it. Eat that man on a cracker with a side of warm gruyere...
Hiyas Cass!! Glad to see you're back! Nasty flu, bad bug!! Hippo Birdies!!!
:grouphug: aw Mags... don't worry about it. Po's right, his Karma will indeed give him what he deserves. and that's the worst curse of them all. Not that I'm seriously upset. I kinda knew that it wasn't good when there was dead silence on the other end of the phone after asking him if he'd been up to date on his Tetanus and Rabies shots, just in case I bite or get bitten. It's a joke for pete's sake and he didn't get it. oi.

There's a lot of us that agree with you. He's nearly perfect for the role. I'm kind of afraid of what it would do to his career, though.
No more movies like Divorcing Jack or those 'artsy fartsy' roles once you step into Bond.

Wrong… Issacs has made a name for himself doing these “character” roles. He wouldn’t stop that. And he’d bring a realism to Bond that Dalton did. Dalton was the closest to the Bond in the books; an unfeeling assassin.
As for the Gor books, they are great. The stories are fun and they’re true pulp fiction. The characterization is fun and the world/cultures that Norman created/borrowed form history are very colorful… The 'honor system' of these cultures is close to my own sysytem of beliefs... True he waxes pathetic too much of the master slave things but you can see that pattern and skip it and miss nothing in the story.

Trouble is that it was the closest to the 'real' Bond... and in "License to Kill" the story line was cool because it brought in a bunch of old wounds that supposedly don't affect James... Such as the murder of his bride in "Her Majesty's Secret Service"...
Moore was the worst Bond... Lazenby second worst... David Niven was better than them both... (Casino Royale)

OK, NOW you're arguing personal taste over adherance to the canon. And I won't do that. I personally don't like the way Dalton portrayed Bond. It was way too dark for me. I prefer a bit of camp in my movies. I like comedy and lightness.
Sean was THE best. He wiil always be Bond in my book, Brosnan right behind him. If mah heart Jason is graced, he'll push Brosnan down to 3rd.

Oh, I don't doubt he'd stop DOING character roles--I would just be afraid of over exposure. Not that I'm against him getting the cherry role and forwarding his career, but aren't there some celebrities who you wish would just get their friggin 15 minutues overwith already?
I'd be afraid he wouldn't be as respected if he was ALL OVER THE PLACE all the time.
(case in point: Is the 15 minute timer for Paris Hilton broken or something?!?) I just think taking on Bond would have that effect.
As far as John Norman's books..... the world he created is vast, and very imaginative. The ideals and morals he put forth are commendable. That part I can handle. I can even stomach his (in my humble opinion)sophomoric, slightly mysoginistic views of womanhood for the sake of the story--though you're right, he did carry on overmuch about the whole master/slave thing. I think the term is 'ad nauseum'. Whatever...
That said, here's my problem with him: HIs writing.
Ok so I'm no professional critic, but for a guy with the education level and intelligence he possess, his writing style is long winded, tedious and repetitive, and his dialogue is not only flat, but fails in it's traditional duty of furthering the story in nearly every instance.
I should not even mention the rediculous paragraph-long run on sentences and plethora of commas. My husband, a longtime fan of Gor novels, recently mused: "Are they paying him by the comma?"
One can indeed draw similarities between Tarl Cabot and Bond, and for that matter, Lara Croft--they're all (nearly)intolerable Mary Sues. Peripheral characters are nearly all more interesting and HUMAN.
Dmitri, I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the merits of Norman's writing. Of course, wouldn't it be a boring world if we all liked the same thing?

Erm... is this thing on? Right...
Hello to all... Po and Artos, and milady Morghan finally got me to join in on the merriment hereabouts and so I felt a wee introduction might be a good start.
Several of you have already seen me at the Wilkes-Barre St. Paddy's Day parade for the EMMF. In the photos that Foxglove posted, I am the one to the left of her directly in line with the flaming cement mixer... Unfortunately, I look more like a grey, fuzzy buddha with a Zorro hat than my usual self.
Anyway, the parade was a blast, all the moreso for meeting so many fine members of the Wenches Guild (and I *DO* mean FINE!) Rowdy, raucous, and beautifully bawdy ladies, what more could a rogue ask for?!?
Me? Well... I like Dragons and sci-fi, SCA and engineering... I enjoy wood/ metal/ leather working as well as costuming, patternmaking, singing and playing guitar and drums. I *think* I have a good sense of humor, Po and Artos and I play off of each other well...
Well... I suppose that would be enough for now, gotta leave *some* mystery, eh?
I look forward to 'rogueing', or at least entertaining, everyone.

Good Morning all.
Haven't had one of those days, but I am trying to recover from Faire. Sumburnt arms, face & the Sisters are Rosy. Had a wonderful time, met a number of Texas Wenches, and Captain Stamina.
Wow, he Purrs!!!! :faint:
We wenched an unsuspecting Rogue.
PussyWillow & I are hoping to get approval for a Hostel at Excalibur. We are working on getting a sponser and of Course Faire approval as well as approval from Lars. Sunday was a beautiful day, cool breeze coming in though out the day. I was able to wear my new garb that I had Stacey from Black Rose Garb make for me (www.blackrosegarb.com). AS soon as I figure how to do things, I will post pictures or a link for pictures.
Good thing I was off yesterday, too bad I have to go to work today.

Just think, if you feel better this aft you can go and shamelessly make copies of the photos posted from the weekend.

Oh....... My.............. GAWD
You... you girls...... just..... ODED FEHR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya know - I have both Mummy & Mummy Returns... just for the eye-candy! Brendan Fraser, Oded Fehr, Arnold Vosloo, AND The Rock...... Who Needs A Plot?
I'm with ya, Phee. They could have just had a round or two of nekkid jello wrestling and that would have been just fine for me instead being subjected to the PYGMY MUMMIES!
See, it could have been: Rick vs. Imhotep (lime jello, I think.)
And Ardeth Bey vs. Loch-na (in banana jello)
Oh, yeah...and for the boys, Evie vs. Anachsunamun in.....oh, heck, who cares.....I've suddenly got a craving for lime and banana jello!

The medics may need to restrain the wenches as well (the rope in the Ioan Gruffudd pic ought to do nicely).
for their own good, of course.

I think the massive estrogen spike we've created has scared them away.

(Po swaggers in to retrieve his abandoned grey cloak)
Wow- there's nothing more inspiring to get a guy to recover than to have him awaken (from his place on the floor) to find a dozen wenches lying comatose and drooling all around him!
I swear- my recouperation was a matter of self-defence- we're running out of floor-space here, Ladies!
I would have dragged my weakened form out of here anyway to escape the current estrogen tsunami...
Po searches the prone wenches for Artemesia- and upon finding her...
Happy Birthday, M'dear!
Hmmm.. Tea this morning, I think...
