:?: Does anyone have experience with pie throwing booths at faires or other events? If so, what is the best kind of pie that is fun to throw but isn't too expensive? I've done plenty of one-off pie in the face gags on people using a homemade cream pie or something yummy from the bakery, but that's obviously too much cooking and/or money for an all weekend event. :D

The cheapest, and easiest that I am aware of is. . . .
a disposable pie plate / aluminum/ not hard
take a can of ready whip / cool whip or the like and fill up the pie pan.
Basically just use the whip topping to make the entire pie

thanks...my friend Anna says that the rediwhipe squirt kind melts and falls quickly...what about CoolWhip? does that hold together?

any would the aluminum pie pans be OK at a renfaire...I was thinking recycled deep dish cardboard plates would look more like pie crusts.

There's been a couple times where I have used a butter cream cake frosting and filled the pie tins with that. It doesn't melt (well, if it's really hot, it will) and it's fairly easy and cheap to make. Food coloring works well with it if you want different colors and it's very yummy!
