Does anyone here take/have taken Fosomax?

A couple of weeks ago, my Mom's doctor prescribed Fosomax to prevent bone loss. Mom had heard some things about the drug that she didn't really like, but her doctor is not a very talk-to-able sort, and he brushed off her concerns. When she got the stuff and read the instructions and warnings, she was really spooked and doesn't want to take it. She spoke to a pharmacist and just got some party line about how widely the drug is prescribed, etc.

I would just like some feedback from regular people who have taken this particular drug.
