I've found a BUNCH of different places on line (I specifically saw it on The Rainforest Site) and am SO tempted to try these!

I was just thinking that...

1) how much would they differ from Dark Chocolate - YUMMY!

and 2) they don't melt - PERFECT FOR FAIRE!!!

that's it... I'm gettin' me some and we'll see!

I wonder if these are like the Chocolate nibs that Scheffenberger sells? They are basically a portion of the cocoa bean after it has been processed, but richer, crunchy/nutty and tiny. Mom brought me some back last year, YUMMY!

If they prove to be the nibs, I have a really good Chocolate Salad dressing recipe that you make from them to serve on spinach, strawberry and chicken salad. Unbelievable stuff!!

I can't wait to hear the reviews on them!

:D OK, the verdict is in.....................

Jungle Chocolates with Brazil Nuts & Coffee -- strong coffee flavor; VERY good

Jungle Chocolates with Raisins & Coconut -- coconut flavor very intense, raisin flavor in background: VERY good

Jungle Chocolates with Macadamia Nuts -- mostly chocolate taste with smooth nut after taste; VERY good

They were out of pineapple :(

The chocolate in the mix IS cacao beans. They don't melt like processed chocolate but they taste real good.

Overall.............. :D :D :D :D :D

I broke down and got the set that came with the Macadamia variety and the Brazil Nut/coffee flavor

both were too bitter/strong for my taste - but the boys (who adore dark chocolate) love them

Well, better late then never?!

Scharffen-berger makes cocoa nibs to go in this - not sure if the nibs in the Jungle Chocolates are chocolate covered of not - if they are, they could give a little extra unintended flavor. I like this on a salad of baby spinach, strawberries, toasted almonds or pecans, with or without chicken. I also tried it on pork chops that were grilled, and basted the chops shortly before removing them from the grill - YUM!

1/4 c. cocoa nibs, crushed
1/4 c dried Majoul dates, ground into a paste
1/2 c. Balsamic, Raspberry or Sherry Vinegar
1/3 c. Red wine vinegar
3/4 c. extra virgin olive oil

Combine first four ingredients and mix well. Add oil slowly with a whisk. Salt and Pepper to taste. Vinegrette may be sharp at first depending on quality/type of vinegar used. Allowing it to mellow for a day before using with help. Haven't tried mixing it in a blender yet, but can't see why it would not work.
