Had a lump show up on my latest mammagram - no biggie, so I thought - got them for a while until I went back on my vitamins. Usually the Dr. aspirates it, sends me home and lets me know the results - but assures me it's no big deal and that it was just a cyst.

He didn't do that this time - the mass was smaller - I could not even feel it during a self exam, it "felt" different during the procedure, and he told me he'd see me Thursday for the results. He was still cheerful, but more serious then usual.

I think I would have been okay except my moms first reaction was "omigod you have breast cancer" and has been harping about it ever since she found out about my having to have another lump removed. Now it's in my head. Between that and the Dr. today, I'm freaking out a bit!

Good vibes my way please - I find out Thursday (possibly Wedns), and that seems like an awful long time right now!!

Take a couple of deep breath. Freaking and tweaking is just going to make the wait harder on you. You can't do anything about it until you get the results of your test back. If you get all worked up now, you are only going to make yourself sick. And if the worst happens, you aren't going to be able to deal with it if you get yourself all worked up now. (Words the mom I should have had said to me when I was going through multiple tests because of the ex) In the meantime, pamper yourself a bit. Can't hurt anything and it will make you feel better. I hope that it is a false alarm and it is only a cyst.

Good thoughts and vibes headed your way hon. Take the advice given and just relax. I know you're on pins and needles waiting and every worst case scenario is playing through your head, but think of it this way: if it is, at least it was caught VERY early.

I'll be waiting to hear how the doc's visit goes!

The fatal words "we saw something on your mammogram" came to me when I was 40. After a biopsy - (me to doc - "get it out! Idon't care if it looks benign! My mom had breast cancer twice!) it ended up being benign. I cried about a gallon of tears on my girlfriends, my poor husband didn't know or understand what to do, and after several months, we got it resolved. The emotional part was much worse than the physical part, and the lump wasn't palpable and over 1 cm in size. It was a very scary time.

My advice is similar to the rest - relax, take a deep breath, think good thoughts, recognize that breasst cancer isn't necessarily a death sentance any more - my mom survived both of hers and that was before chemo - and use your friends for support, regardless.

Let us know as soon as you know, please! :grouphug:

Thanks guys :)

I am not normally one to freak about this type of thing - why borrow trouble? This time was no different until Mom flipped out and started hounding me - she is a classic worrier, and even though I have learned to shut most of it out, it sometimes sneaks in and wreaks havoc. It doesn't help that since my Dad died of complications from his cancer treatment in November (they destroyed 2/3rd of his lungs with the radiation), I am pretty much all mom has to focus on right now, even though I keep trying to help her get a life back <sigh>. <grump>

I am going to try and tell myself that it is benign and nothing to worry about (deep breaths) - but those test results better come back on Thursday as promised!! My cat may disown me if they don't - I have been driving the beast nuts lately!

I had a scare when my pap smear came back abnormal a couple of years ago. ( my mom died of ovarian cancer) I understand the freaking out part. Try to get out of the house and do something fun. I know its gonna be hard but go to a movie, or the park, read a book, anything otherwise you will worry yourself sick.

Let's know when you find out. :grouphug:

Prayers going up for you.

Do your best to stay busy until the tests come back. Staying busy will keep your mind off of the waiting (maybe) and at the end of the day you will be tired enough to sleep.

I'll be thinking about you. Please update us.
