 I'm not really sure what all this is about!! I just joined IWG online, because this looks so cool! But I'm so confused already!! Any hints for the new girl?

Anyway, hi to you all!! :D

Gak! In my excitement, I forgot my questions! What local chapter do I belong to/should I join? Where are the local faires? I've only been to the PA Ren Faire last year, and I LOVED it!

A little about me...I'm a young mom, and being such is quite enough work for me!! Like many self-respecting women, I aspire to be a romance novelist!! :hearts: I'm in the Philadelphia area, and I love to sew. (These are rather random facts!) I read all the time, romance, fiction, and non-fiction. And I love history!

I'm a little overwhelmed by all this, but I'm really excited about it!!
just rather confused.... :?

let's see... if memory serves, PA is part of Local 9.

Welcome to the madness!

Yep, you are part of Local 9 that is based at PARF, and the lovely Ysobelle is your local madame. She resides in the Philly area, too, and is a corset maker. I'm sure when she gets on the boards tonight that she will be along to welcome you to the local. Your madame of Vice is Betty, but I haven't seen her on the boards much lately. Probably getting ready for Celtic Fling in June!

Anyway, welcome to the wonderful world of wenchliness!! Hope to see you at Fling next month!

Well, I was just wandering the boards, and one of my questions was where I would find other wenches at each faire, but it sounds like there isn't one specific place or type of place to look...
I'm just not sure how to connect with people once I get to the Faire, or before then!

Try going to Wench Watch or All's Faire. They have little threads on different faires. Or you can put up a post about a certain faire, that'll bring people in who've been to that faire. I'm new to the east coast faires myself and don't a lot of the wenches at these locals. But I've made several friends who are "showing me the ropes" at these new to me faires. :meow:

My advice at PARF is to go to the nearest Pub, look for two handsome and likely intoxicated Scotsmen, introduce yourself, and offer to “check” their kilts. See you at Fling!

Emma, first of all, greetings & welcome to the madness that is the Guild & the board! :-)

Secondly, pay no attention to the bald-headed rogue above  lol! (Joking! Actually Roger's a smeggin' riot!)

Thirdly, to answer yer question about how to connect with others at faires, each faire *should* have what's called a hostel. A hostel is a temporary or permanent structure that is used as a gathering place for folks who wanna meet fellow guild members or find out who's onsite that day. At PARF, our hostel is a leather shoppe called The Emporer's Needle, which is run by Betty, our madame-of-vice. In addition to a sign-in book that's there, there's also a wench book that is used as a field guide for new & visiting wenches. It contains photos & mini-bios of us. The hostel is located on top of Swashbuckler Grove, right in front of Swashbuckler stage & the new (thank God!) flushy-privies.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your first experience at PARF. My rogue & I look forward to meeting you and your four month old at Celtic Fling next month.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Let's see, we usually start the morning at the Swashbuckler, then we make the long trip to Cap'n Shucks for a refill. Within minutes we are off to O'Malley's. By noon you should see a trail worn between Pubs. We can wait for you at the Swashbuckler if you'd like to join the parade?
