New Traveling Wench

I'm finally official! I've been a wench for years, but only found the Guild recently. I live in Florida where we have lots of faires within reasonable (less that 4 hours) driving distance. So maybe I'm a little obsessed, but I love faire and traveling!

So far this year, I've attended Hoggetowne (Gainesville), FLARF, and BARF. Next week I go on a road trip vacation. I'll be at TnRF for Memorial Day weekend and GaRF for the last day. Later in the year I'll make at least two, and maybe three, more faires as part of business travel. I also attended Bristol one year (late 1990s).

Since the Guild is new to me, how does one go about finding the hostel when attending a new faire?

We don't have a hostel or official Guild presence at TnRF, but guild folk can usually be found at the back of the pub throughout the day at GARF! Look forward to seeing you there! (I'll be at GARF all three days of Memorial Day weekend). :)

Look for wenches throughout TnRF, though! You'll probably see quite a few (as well as visitors from other locals!) Hope you enjoy your trip!

Although the Chapter List hasn't been updated, I think all of the Locals have their own Forum in the Index. Search through those threads when you think you might be heading to another faire and even post to let them know you'll be there!

Any chance of coming back to Bristol? The Wenches have a Local and a Hostel there now!

It'll be a while before I make it back to Bristol. It all depends on what conferences I'm attending. When I made it to Bristol, I had been in Chicago for some training. I have a deal with my employer that allows me the weekend before or after any trip for wandering the area. I happened to catch an advertisement on the radio telling about Bristol and couldn't resist. After all, I was already north of Milwaukee and needed to head south. Why not plan Saturday night's stop so that I could be at faire opening on Sunday morning.

I bought my first Moresca bodice that day. But my favorite place was Celestial Chimes' treehouse. Oh, love at first listen with the bass chime! I'm still coveting it, though I have nowhere here to hang it. Sigh....:(

These days, as soon as I find out where I'm going and when, I hit the web looking for faires within driving distance. The soon to be started road trip is ostensibly to Nashville for a conference. The fact that I can attend two faires during the surrounding weekends just makes it wonderful.

I have checked the Chapter List, though not posted. I've read that many of the TnRF group will be participating in an invasion of GaRF the weekend I'm in Tennessee. Ah well, a three day weekend is the perfect time to travel, so I can't blame them.
