I know it's entitled to have its own regulations, being a private institution, but that certainly doesn't make it right.

And, by the way, the girls weren't even proven to be lesbians, just seemed to be lesbians, because of their friendship. The article isn't turning up on my searches, but Feministing has a quote from the article here (http://www.feministing.com/archives/002594.html).

That is just insane! That principal needs to be removed from the position of authority at the school. As long as the girls were behaving at school, I don't see how what they did in their homes had anything to do with this. Stupid paranoid people!

As a private institution, I can see and understand that their right to refuse someone is just, in and of itself. I don't approve of how it was applied in this case, but I'll still support it because I want it for others. But to deny their suit and allow the school to expel them based on no proof. Hearsay isn't justification to discriminate against anyone. I also think that it's shameful the school has behaved this way, but hopefully someone will appeal the decision.

The way I see it, it's just another excuse for hypocrisy wrapped up in the moral high ground of another "christian" institution. The Inquisition ain't over as far as they are concerned.

I agree with you Torra, for the most part. I do agree that the suit should have been denied though. The government doesn't want the church involved in politics, then the government can't get involved in the church. Now, I realize the line is a lot more blurry than that, but really, if they are considered a social institution and not a business, they have to abide by their own rulings.

That being said, the school was stupid. They didn't do any investigating, they acted irresponsibly, and they give Christians a bad name. It's disgusting.

Honestly, I want someone to appeal based on the lack of investigation resulting in the initial expulsion. If there had been evidence (that wasn't produced under coercion), then I would say they had no legal leg to stand on. But when the evidence in a decision like that is produced under duress, then I find it shaky to begin with and less than credible. So, the suit should be appealed because of the nature of the expulsion, not their decision to expel any student they don't like the orientation of.

And I agree, it's giving people who preach unconditional love a bad name and reinforcing stereotypes that don't apply to 90% of the people out there.
