I got home around noon today. And what did I discover? Construction workers had been ripping off the roof of the apartment buildings. I am on the second floor. So I get to hear all the thumping and bumping of booted feet. So much for getting rest. lol.
The surgery went well. Even though I was woke up to be asked if I was in pain & needed a pain pill. (er no I didn't need one until you woke me up, but yes I would love to have one now that I am wide awake & can't get to sleep. lol) Probably a good thing they were asking. I really hate to take pills. The nurses had to remind me that the morphine was there to be used, and that I am not supposed to tough things out. I had one nurse that would come in while I was sleeping and push the button a few times a hour. The button could be pushed every ten minutes. I would push it about once every few hours. lol. My doctor called in and had a little talk with me about pain management and the importance of it for proper healing. lol I hate taking medication. Took forever for my regular doctor to convince me to take my anti-inflammatory medication.
Now I am home and trying very hard not to overdo. Sigh. Not allowed to lift more than 10 pounds. This is going to be a long few weeks. Well I am off to lie down and take yet another nap.

Welcome home, and a speedy recovery to you. That sucks about the roof noise. Just be glad they're not pouring hot tar onto the roof in 100+ degree weather, knocking out your air conditioning (as I dealt with last summer...the tar smell inside made me so sick I couldn't even be in the apartment, and ended up spending a few nights at a friend's house.)
Again, feel better very soon...take it easy on yourself!

Hey Rose, glad to hear everything went well. And as for the construction guys - either buy ear plugs or, if you see a particularly cute one, ask him to help with your lifting!

Glad the surgery went well! The pain meds actually DO help with the healing process, otherwise we/our bodies tend to do 'guarding' postures, which interferes with the muscles healing properly. Take it slow and make sure it's more than just a couple of weeks of not over-doing it. Your body needs time to heal and get happy again!

I was just thinking about you this morning. Glad to hear you are out and the surgery went well. Take it easy catch up on the soap operas. Saying a prayer for you tonight to get well quick.

I second Margaret's suggestion!
and don't forget getting drinks and munchies... show them pics of you in your garb... that'll get their attention. "yeah I know I look like something dragged thru a knot hole now, but this is what I look like NORMALLY"... you need to be up and about, but rest is good to. Easy does it the 1st couple of days home, and every day will be better.
Glad to see you are home. Constructions guys are usually good for the scenery... hopefully it is warm enough they can work without their shirts. :stunned: :yum:  8)

2 words: ICE CREAM!!!

Up and slightly about in a brief moment of coherency. (Aren't pain pills lovely? Doesn't help that I am very sensitive to drugs to begin with.) I will probably be sound asleep in about 45 minutes.
Ice Cream does sound good. But I think my boys beat me to it. And I don't think I will be driving anywhere any time soon.
I love the picture of the Get Well Fairie. :wah: My printer prints so badly that I can't use it. It barely does my work orders. (I do property inspections and delinquency interviews on a contractor basis)
I am trying not to over do. My older son did the dishes and the meals today. My youngest son keeps bringing more water to drink. I am going to float away.
It was raining today. So I didn't get to check out any of the construction workers. grin Of course it might have helped if I had been awake for an extended period of time to manage that. So no admiring the scenery today. Sigh. They worked on the far building today. I could hear them this morning, but couldn't see from my bedroom window. Now the mountains I can see. It is supposed to be raining here for the next couple of days. At least it will be cooler.
Soap Operas? What are soap operas? I, er, um, don't have cable tv and the reception is really lousy up here. I did watch a Pokemon tape several times today with my youngest son. Sigh. I think I know that one tape's several episodes by heart.
Garb pictures???? Oh my. The ex took those. (And he can have them. I am about 80 pounds lighter now. Need new garb & new photos. )
I am still trying to take things easy. Doesn't help that I am already going stir crazy. I guess my plans of rock climbing and getting into shape for mountain bike racing should wait awhile huh? Extreme sports are a no-no? lol (Been told I have a warped sense of humor)
Maybe I will get some knitting done. Scarves or something. Better wait until I quit falling asleep so easily. Hate to skewer myself on a knitting needle. I hear that wool yarn can be so difficult to get clean.

Pain meds are delightful... I need to get a refill at WallyWorld for the meds for my back.
In 2000 I had gall bladder surgery after being very sick for 4 months. They sent me home several hours after the surgery when they said I would be up and out in about 1 or 2 hours. I should have stayed overnight. I was sitting trying to get comfortable and trying to eat something when I muttered something that had passed thru my mind... "I'm thinking of taking the other pain pill that I didn't take earlier." I wasn't aware I had said it out loud. My Dad got up, got me the pill and the water and made me take the pill. He told me if I was thinking of taking the pill I needed the pill.
My folks know that I do not like taking pills, so they knew I really needed it.
You take your meds, take life slow and easy. Don't push, don't over do anything. Relax. In a few weeks you'll be better than new.
