Just signed up today and enjoying looking around :) haven't given free reign to my internal wanton wench in awhile....looking forward to busting out all over lol.
Glad I stumbled back across here as I was searching for something to do this weekend. Just moved back to Jersey from California and thought I would introduce myself....have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Well if you're looking for something to do NEXT weekend, you have to come to Fling at PARF.
See below for more info:

Where in CA, btw? I used to live in LA myself, in Playa Del Rey, on the ocean between the airport and marina.

I was just checking the Fling out....sounds like fun.
I was just south of San Fran, near Half Moon Bay....on the ocean and I miss that terribly, but am an east coast gal lol....so will have to find my ocean spot on this coast.

Since you're back in Jersey, check out Lewes DE, just a ferry ride away from Cape May. I love the beach at the state park there.
Howdy from western PA!! Hope to see you at Fling next weekend!!!

Greetings Friar.
I am not sure if this is the place to post this, probably not, but will start here lol.
I am not only new to IWG, this forum etc...I am new to Faires and although have been to them years ago, not in recent times. Additionally, since I moved back to NJ from CA a few months ago, I have not made many friends and am really wondering how to start reaching out.
LOL! as I am a little shy initially, this is doubly difficult and none of the friends I have here are interested in this at all.....so, I ask for advice. I don't mind doing things by myself, but it does feel funny to kind of explore this all alone. Any advice?
I was planning on heading out to the fling this weekend, at least for a day, or else closer to home, the NJRK, and I have seen many of you will be there, but not sure of how to approach this and I don't want to just butt in....LOL Seems like most of you have known each other a long time or else are familiar with Faires etc....so thought I would look for some help, rather than just sit back and let this pass by.
Thanks for listening to me ramble lol.

Welcome Lady!
I went through a big change in my life last year and actually ventured to several faires alone. I had joined the guild and been on the boards so by the time I arrived at the faire I was already on the look out for people. I'll be at Fling all weekend (though hatless it somehow didn't go with the family tartan) and I have to say that the PARF folk are the best at making everyone feel welcome. The hostle is to the right as you walk in the gate. Passed the big red ship and the pub. You're looking for the Emporer's needle and a fine wench called pngwmama. She is the awesome leather lady and owner of the booth.
I'll be with my kilt wear'n pirate. He's the one with the cherries

Hi Gwenance and Tap :)
Thanks for the welcome and the encouragement.....it's a bit daunting to venture out alone into a new arena, but will think really hard about it. At least I know where to start if I get there lol.

Remember to keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times and please remember that the Guild doesn't pay for any needed therapy!

Personally m'lady I've only been to 3 faires now and the first I knew absolutly nothing more than the name and that was PARF many years ago, then I found the SCA which if you didn't know is another re-enactment type organization. But I'm a born actor and ham and got involved from the bottom up when someone (Impact) wanted to start one in my area and have discovered wenches and rogues know how to have fun. First thing I would recommend if you go to a faire is to find out who your local Dame is and where to find her at the hostel, introduce yourself and away you go. If you want something simpler, try getting to be friends with one or two that live close to you.

Good advice Friar.....will probably just venture out to one of the faires soon. There are plenty to choose from around here :)
