The Brobdingnagian Bards will be back at KCRF this year! Not the whole run, but the last 3 weekends, anyway. WOOT!

I was thinking about going this year, inspite of the 3 hour drive. I've never been to KCRF before.

3 hours isn't anything for a drive to faire <G> There are people IN town that have an hour drive!

Depends on when you're planning on coming in--I suspect there will be a Texas invasion on Labor Day weekend, and last year they got a rate. There is one weekend that's Nascar--and there isn't a room in town available that weekend....
Let us know when you're thinking, and we'll steer ya to a few places to check!

I've even done the Omaha to KCRF trip in one day, no hotel stay...not fun. This year we WILL be getting a room, but I have no idea what weekend we're going

There will indeed be a Labor Day weekend invasion by the Scarby folks.

And I'll bet I know why the Bards are back - KCRF sucked for singing groups last season. They didn't even give any awards for musical groups. They've gotten too freakin' cheap - not wanting to pay airfare or lodging for good out-of-town entertainers. Even Three Pints Gone made an abbreviated appearance last year and we only had Tartanic for the first few weeks.

My show isn't a musical show - we do some singing, but it's a comedy show and we got tired of being dinged because of our parody songs and ASCAP. I know the Bards weren't with us for several years because they'd priced themselves out of KC's pocketbook - which seems to shrink every year.

A few years back there were so many good groups - I loved the Dregs of Dublin, Minstrosity and several others. I also wish they'd bring in Iris and Rose and Queen Anne's Lace - but I'm sure poor Jim's sensibilities would find Iris and Rose much too bawdy. Gak

Time will tell. Jim didn't know who else was going to share our stage this year. Last year it was difficult because we'd draw big crowds who'd leave instead of staying for Tippler's Way or the other group. Honestly, we appeal to a very specific audience and there needs to be an equally strong show opposite ours.

Ah well, if I ruled the world. Or at least booked talent for KCRF.

I can just imagine who all we'd have if you booked the talent--at least we have the best looking joust!

And you have to admit--we have the best lane in the faire!
