rose basket

so as some may know, im a rose wench at pcrf, well this year im doing my own basket (last year was my first year and i used one of the already prepared baskets, this year i want one all of my own.
so any ideas for things to hang off my basket to make it a little more piratical for this not so little rose wench, or any links to some cool piratical fabrics to play with.
(if you cant tell my persona is a mischevious foxy pirate)

for other rose wenches out there, im having issues on the keeping money with easy access thing, i only have one pouch and find putting it in there just means alot of fumbling and as you know, when youve got your hands full with a basket and cash its quite a feat trying to juggle everything.
im trying to come up with some easy system for me to access cash, mabe a smallish pouch i can attatch to my basket perhaps?!

any other hints, tips and tricks are always apreicated too...theres always room for more learning

Let's see...you could add black and red ribbons to your basket, those are always good pirate colors...maybe hang some "booty" off it...

As for the money thing...you could always stick your cash down your bodice....easy to get to there!

Those are my only ideas at this point...hope that gives you a decent start.

I can't speak as a rose wench--but as an old (take that as you will) cocktail waitress, carry most of your cash in your pouch. Keep a ten and fives and ones in your hand--if you fold them (in denomination order) lengthwise once, and them carry them in your hand, wrapped around your middle finger, with the ends of the bills out (does that make sense?) you can access change easily, and have it and the rest of your cash secured.
It really doesn't take much to get used to.

Maybe attach a mug to the side of the basket. Maybe make a flap to cover the top of the mug.

Moresca makes a fabulous 3 pocket bag that I know many rose sellers use, including a friend of mine (top rose seller at GARF). She puts $1 bills in one pocket, $5 bills in the next and $10 and $20 bills in the third. I am actually about to work up a 4 pocket one for her as she wants a fourth pocket to split up the $10 and $20 bills.

I have the same Moresca bag, and I hang it around my waist, and shorten the cord as necessary. It works fantastic, There is no way for me to st it down and lose it, and it is readily accessible.

I like the Bell bag. It also has 3 pockets. I like the idea of the bells. I'm thinking that if the bells are ringing and it isn't your hand in the pockets you need to call for security.

ooo i like the idea of the multiple areas in one small bag, that would help kep everything organized, and ill also have to try the waitressing idea (mabe practicie it at home then if i feel comfortable with it) thanks.
Definatly all for balck and red, those are the colours of my garb. I also found some adorable tiny little brass skull and crossbone charms on ebay, and im loking for some small older bells mabe inter lacethem onto some ribons so the skulls tap the bells as i walk...
thanks for the ideas, got to go to walmart today and borther the poeple at the fabric counter for the 4th time this week/end. lol, its nice, they know my name and they have leanrt how to understand my nothern english accent :-P

I'm not a rose wench by any means...but I do have a basket that I carry around and all of the stuff in/on it...I've just collected over the years...I think it makes it a little more special, especially since most of it is just little things that people gave me.

As far as the money separating goes...in the shop I worked in last year we took some scraps of burlap, layered them so that there was 4 sections and just duct taped the bottom and edges, leaving the top open. It would fit down in a pouch and have like four little pockets to keep things all separted and easy to access.

One thing you might do is take a look in your sparklies...
Sparklies being those random peices of jewelry and whatnot that you don't know what to do with? You know, earrings that have lost their mates, pendants you like but dont really wear... Toss those on there with bits of ribbon and whatnot :)
