A teen purse-snatcher got a rude awakening (http://www.neatorama.com/2009/02/12/72-year-old-ex-sprinter-foils-thief/) when the elderly lady she was robbing gave chase. Little did she know that 72-year-old retired teacher, Jean Hirst, was a former 100-yard British national sprinting champion!
"She had a head start but I covered 70 yards in about 15 seconds and was within two strides of her when she looked over her shoulder and saw me…The look on her face was one of sheer amazement and she just threw my bag aside.”
Way to kick ass, Gram. I hope she tripped her attacker to add insult to injury. That story rocks my socks off!

Reminds me of the asshat meth-head that stole my purse from the back of my chair in a restaurant. He did NOT expect to see my honey who is more than twice his size following right behind him. He also didn't expect to get tackled by a guy 3 times his size who heard my guy's call across the parking lot to stop him. NOR, did he expect the old man who got bungee cord out of his truck to hog tie him. Further he didn't expect that the cops who came to the scene would not untie him, but make him HOP to the patrol car.
Needless to say....I got my purse and all that was in it back and HE went to tent city for a nice "vacation".:lol:

Wow! Way to break stereotypes! Nice job, lady! I hope your family is proud of you, and grateful that all that punk wanted was your purse!

We had something similar locally a few weeks ago. A 65 yr old lady got her purse grabbed - except that she is a recently retired sheriff's deputy!
woopsies....
